VER I came awake slowly to the sounds of muffled voices. It took me a moment to remember what had happened and even longer to try and get my bearings. There were no shackles on my wrists any longer, no chain attaching me to Galen. I was in a house of some kind. It was small, the walls made of rocks, the floors of worn wood. A fire was going in a fireplace a short distance away and there appeared to be a small kitchen on the other end of the room. Everything was quaint and very cozy looking and yet it did nothing to calm my nerves. I was lying in a bed of skins and fur and Galen was by my side, still asleep.
