I turned and entered the ward, this room was covered in blue and gold walls with different cartoon characters on them, four beds were on each wall and where light blue and pink bed sheets that had been neatly folded and ready for new patients. The ward was quiet with just staff zooming around making sure the ward was up to scratch. After standing near the door for what feels about an hour, I finally moved and rapidly walked towards the main nurse that I seemed to see, barking orders left, right and centre at the staff; I finally opened my dry, sticky mouth to ask her a question, what came out was a squeaky noise, a horrified look came across my face (how the hell did that noise come out of your mouth, girl) that crossed my thoughts. I reached in my bag and grabbed my light blue, metal water bottle and took a sip before clearing my throat to speak “ Hello, my name is Skylar, I’m your new nurse and I’m very sorry about the noise I made. I wanted to ask where you need me?”.
This woman, who looked like she had just been in an argument with someone, looked me up and down and finally spoke in a clear but agitated voice “oh…… hello nurse Grey, my name is matron Clover and I’m your boss whilst you're on this ward. We are just getting sorted for the patients who are needing extra care to help with recovery. I also hear that you have extensive knowledge of working with children who have autism!” before I could answer her, she continued “sorry I am rambling, but I kind of need you to take and record blood pressure, blood, and the pulses of patients please! But before you do that, the staff changing room is just outside the doors of the ward and on the left. Go and get sorted, then we can begin”.
All I did was watch her facial expression go from a smile to an important situation look and I nodded, before turning on my heel and practically running out the door just to keep the peace, as I was in my own little world and just gathering my thoughts, I nearly walked into another member of staff.
I quickly apologised but as it was due to come out of my mouth, she just sulked, whilst rolling her eyes back. I watched as she shuffled off down the corridor and around the corner, I quickly muttered under my breath "you could at least heard me say sorry, stupid cow." At this point I was angry, agitated and wanted to scream, but I gathered my thoughts and went back to the task at hand.
I followed Matron Clover's instructions and finally found the staff changing room, where I slowly pushed the door open, before peering inside to see if anyone was there. I quickly looked around the corner at the bleak but well-lit changing room, and to my surprise, there was no sound from any human being. I reluctantly entered the room with one quick step, all that was rushing through my mind was that I wanted to find a locker, get sorted and get straight to work, but my whole body just froze, I felt paralyzed (why on earth are you scared of Skylar, come on your a gray for goodness sake) was racing through my mind. At the end, I quickly found a free locker and changed and hurried out the room as deep down something was telling me that someone was in that locker room watching, quietly in the dark and steamy shower cubical.
