“My God! We were so worried! What happened? The guys heard the commotion on the police radio and called me right away. Are you hurt?” The questions poured out of Sonya as Nick entered the house, followed by Cameron. They were both still very wet and both shivered, even though the temperature was still quite high for that late in the evening.
“We’ve got to get you both out of these wet clothes.” Sonya took charge. The looks of exhaustion on both their faces told her what an ordeal they’d been though. “Max, Laura, run hot baths in Nick’s bathroom and in the guest room bath. Make sure they’re good and hot. What’s this?” she held Cam’s wrist as she took the briefcase out of her hand. The handcuff was sticky and wet with blood. “Where’s the key to this?”
