CHAPTER 13 CLAIMING A FAKE IDENTITY "How was the meeting, Flora? Guess she wasn't as difficult as she used to be?" Elizabeth asked with a light grin on her face when Flora joined her in her office. Flora sighed heavily. "Can anything good ever come out of a meeting between a husband snatcher and the victim?" "I'm sorry for all the emotional damage that Mrs. Wilson is causing you. I assure you that after this, I'll find better ways to get another designer to handle her projects." Elizabeth said softly. ‘It’s easier said than done.’ Flora thought to herself. "What if she insists on me being her designer? Would you risk your business for my sake?" She asked. Huh? Elizabeth blinked at the unexpected question from Flora. She sat down quietly and paired into her innocent eyes for some seconds. "And you, you're doing all of this for Daniel? Is that how far you're willing to condone anything for the sake of your son, Flora? I must say I admire your zeal as a mother." "Of course. I can go the extra mile just for my son's wellbeing." Flora nodded. "But nevertheless, there's an elastic limit to everything I can take." She added. “Everything like –tolerating Mrs. Wilson's excesses? Elizabeth asked, raising her brows. “I never said so.” Flora defended with a faint smile and continued. "I'd love to go and start drafting out something before the day runs out." She suggested calmly before walking to her office. At Bianca's office, little Dan sat down quietly, his attention focused on the resume sample he had obtained from Bianca yesterday, as if he was memorising the words. "Hey Dan, you've been real quiet today, and–you dressed so professionally today. Are you doing all this because you want to be like Adrian Smith?" Bianca teased as she moved closer to the little boy. "Really, aunt Bianca?" The little boy smiled, his large eyes widened in amusement. "I think today is gonna be a perfect day for me then. Even my mummy has been admiring my outfit since morning. That's why whenever someone gets her angry and I stand before her with my cute face, she'll forget the anger and start smiling." He added, his voice soft and determined. Bianca almost laughed out loud, but she immediately covered her mouth with her hands so that she wouldn't destroy the little boy's self confidence. She has always associated with kids, but she had never seen an amazing and self confident kid like Dan in her entire life. Little Dan maintained his composure and kept glancing at the ticking Watch on his wrist. While Bianca is appreciating his appearance, he's praying earnestly in his mind to get the slightest opportunity to sneak to the large building he has always admired. Soon, Bianca's phone began to ring. It was her aunt who's a widow with only one child. "Bianca. Gabby is dying. I don't know what to do right now! He just took a poisonous substance!***" A woman's voice came panicking from the other side of the phone as she picked up the call. Bianca's expression changed as soon as she dropped the call. She hastily arranged the files on her table with trembling hands. "Hey Dan. I might be leaving you with your mummy for a while. I have an emergency to attend to." She said as soon as she held the little boy's hands while he picked up his little bag and followed after her to his mummy's office. Flora was head bent on trying to put down a draft of Debby's son's portrait when the door suddenly pushed open, making her startled at the uncomfortable expression on Bianca's face, her eyes almost teary. "Miss. Blake. I'm sorry I might drop Dan with you for now. I just received a call that my aunt's only son took a poisonous substance. I need to go see them before my aunty hurts herself!" Bianca pleaded. Huh? Flora raised her brows. “Oh my gosh! That's too bad. Please hurry and meet up.” Flora remarked before turning to Dan. "And you. Hope you can stay calm even without Bianca's supervision?" "Trust me mummy. I can as well stay in the reception so that you'd concentrate on your work. I promise not to run around." The little boy's words made Flora smile and she didn't hesitate to trust his words. She was already certain that he wouldn't run around because since early childhood, he has been a child with so much composure, but even with that, she still followed him to the reception and asked the receptionist to help her look after him. "Hmmmm. Dan, this is the best opportunity for you to submit your mummy's resume." The little boy thought to himself as he watched his mother return to her office. After maintaining calmness for some minutes, Dan quickly sneaked out when he noticed that the receptionist was preoccupied with some files on her table. Across the road, he stood still, smiling at the beautiful sky and the well built structures that beautify the environment. Even though he's still small, Dan took a careful view of the road and traffic signs before crossing. He quickly walked down the street until he stopped at the adorable building that had made him sneak out. He raised his eyes to the enlarged bill board, 'ADVs group holdings.' His eyes flickered and his mind began to beat fast. ‘If truly this building belongs to Mr. Adrian, and he's the richest person in the world, then, he'll definitely be surrounded by so many guards, and seeing him must be the most difficult task a common person like me can achieve.’ He thought and exhaled heavily and shook his head as he thought of a brilliant idea to use and secure a pass to Adrian's office. He made sure to put his resume in a well reserved place before walking into the gigantic building. Little Dan ran his hands over his hair to ensure it was looking neat, then confidently walked towards the pretty lady sitting at the reception. Everyone at the reception was stunned at the little boy's exquisite facial looks. "Hey cutie, how may I help you?" The receptionist asked, her lips spread in a faint smile. "Good afternoon ma'am. I'm here to see my uncle, Mr. Adrian Smith." He replied, his voice laced with confidence. "Huh?" The receptionist widened her eyes. "Did you just say Mr. Adrian is your uncle?" She retorted, fixing her curious eyes on the little boy. "Yes. Can you please take me to his office? I want to see him now and it's urgent." The little boy retorted without a blink. Wow! The lady smiled, looking curiously at the little boy, she actually saw a great resemblance between him and Adrian. Another lady at the side overheard what he said and she decided to run closer. "Wait...are you the little Prince of the Smiths family? I must confess, you look so cute just like your uncle!" "But why are you walking without any bodyguards?" The receptionist chimed in. Huh? Dan raised his brows and blinked in confusion. "I…I asked them to wait for me outside. It's not every time that I like them following me around." He lied, his voice firm and indifferent. "Wow! So amazing. The child really has good morals." Some ladies chorused. The receptionist stepped out of her closet to walk him through the building. "By the way, what's your name, little boy?" She stopped midway and asked. "Huh?" Dan raised his brows, pretending as if he didn't hear her well while he pondered on what to say. "I said, what's your name? I need to get that so that I'll know how to relate your visit to your uncle." She retorted. "Oh, that–my name is Daniel Smith." He responded, his voice laced with confidence. Now without hesitation, the receptionist happily walked him through the elevator which took them to the 19th floor. She's also excited to use that opportunity to see the president of the ADVs group holdings as getting in contact with him has always been one of her major desires all through her five years of working with the company. That desire was common among almost all the ladies in the company as each one of them wants to be Adrian's favourite; Perhaps, that'll secure a slot for them to be in a relationship with the unmarried handsome dude. But Adrian's attention is never drawn to women. In fact, the young billionaire always acts as if he was born to remain celibate. ‘What if he denies knowing me?’ Dan's mind skipped as the random thought popped up in his mind. The receptionist lowered her eyes and beamed at the little boy standing before her. “So, how’s grandpa Smith doing? It's been a long time since I saw him here.” She asked.
