CHAPTER FIVE

1247 Words
Carla Beaumont got down from the taxi, her waist aching as she ran into campus. “Damn it, I'm already very late.” She whispered, adjusting the backpack slung on her shoulders. She was dressed in blue jeans, white singlet and white jacket over it. Her hair was in a ponytail, and she was wearing white canvas. The sore between her thighs refreshed her memories of the previous day. She had spent the entire day and night in Dylan's apartment, only sitting up when he wanted to feed her or bathe. As for clothes, she didn't wear one for hours, sleeping in his arms naked beneath the blanket. She has felt happy when Dylan told a lie about having an emergency to cancel a meeting over the phone, she had felt exceptionally happy. Maybe it was knowing a workaholic like him cancelled his plans for the entire day to accompany her, and he never stopped whispering sweet words that made her race to her ears. She smiled slightly at the memories and increased her speed, rushing to her faculty. “I can't believe I'm late on the first day of the semester. It's all Dylan's fault.” She muttered, even as she smiled with a blush on her cheeks. The people who met her on the way wondered the reason why the school nerd looked exceptionally happy and carefree, her cheeks were rosy, and her lips with a slight dash of lip gloss, unlike her normal self. She was looking radiant and excited, making everyone wonder the reason. She rushed into the classroom, and someone immediately waved her over. It was Emma, the class representative, and one of Carla's very few friends. The class packed up and empty seats were barely available. But Emma managed to save a spot for her. She quickly rushed to the seat as she was about to sit down, her eyes caught sight of Arlene and William, Arlene was leaning against him while he slowly stroked her arm. Arlene smirked at her, her eyes challenging Carla. Carla hissed and sat down. If they expected her to flip out and get furious or jealous, the joke is on them. Apart from burning hatred and strong sense of loathing, he felt nothing for the cheaters. “Why are you so late today? It's not like you to be late to lectures. I even wondered if you got sick and was going to call you.” Carla blushed, knowing that telling Emma the truth about the reason for her lateness was impossible. “Did you break up with William? Those two were acting all lovey before the whole school, and Arlene made fun of you when someone asked her about her.” Emma asked, a concerned look on her face. “I'm no longer with him, Arlene can have his cheating ass.” Emma smiled happily and slapped Carla's arm. “You finally figured it out, that wimpy ass of his isn't worthy of someone as intelligent and hardworking as you are. You're always the one making sacrifices and writing his assignments for him even though he's in a different department. You should forget about him and focus on creating a better future for yourself.” Carla looked around and frowned. “But why is the hall so crowded today?” She asked, turning to Emma. “Ah? Haven't you heard? Didn't you check the faculty w******p group yesterday? Today, the legendary professor Martin would be coming to give us a lecture. Everyone in the finance and business department senior year is in this hall, and more will still come, the upstairs would soon be filled up. People will even hang around the windows, just watch.” Carla frowned. “Professor Martin? I have never heard about him.” Emma gasped with an exaggerated expression of horror on her face. “Never say this where someone would hear you, you will be lynched to death by his fans. He's the CEO of Crystal moon group, and the founder of D-tech. The youngest professor ever. He's just twenty seven and he's always featured on Forbes magazine, thirty under thirty, billionaires under thirty magazine and so on. He rarely gives interviews, he's so mysterious, and his family is even more mysterious and powerful. No one truly knows who they are. There are rumors his family has other groups apart from M-group and crystal moon. As for him, few picture has been taken of him so far, he's so handsome and his physique is to die for. Too bad he's always changing houses in his bid to out run the paparazzi. The school must have paid a fortune and pulled lots of strings to bring him here. The most amazing thing is that today won't be the last day. He will be a guest professor for the entire semester.” Emma whispered with an expression of awe on her face, blushing with a star struck expression on her face. Carla grimaced at the silly expression on Emma's face and chuckled. No matter how good the so-called professor is, he simply can't be as amazing as her Dylan, no matter the amount of money he has. “Carla, they said he's still single. Do you think we have a chance?” Emma suddenly asked. “Don't be silly. Relationship between a teacher and a student is forbidden, especially as he would be the one to graduate us and issue our certificates since he was invited to coach us for our last year in school. People will accuse him of foul play and he will lose his reputation for dating a student. Do you want to get expelled for getting entangled with a professor?” Carla asked, pouring cold water on Emma's enthusiasm. Emma sighed, her shoulders slumping. “That's right, when will it ever be the turn of middle class students like us to have such a handsome and powerful billionaire.” Carla nodded and patted her back. “I'm glad you figured it out.” A commotion suddenly arose outside the hall, cheers and loud shouts from the students nearly made Carla deaf. “What's going on?” She asked, holding her bag tight. “The superstar professor is here.” The revolving spot light in the hall suddenly turned to the door, showing bodyguards dressed in a suit, surrounding a man and trying to keep the over eager students crowding around him from touching him. “Ah? What kind of professor even needs bodyguards?” The guards finally made a way in the crowd and led the person in the middle to the podium. Like a scene from a movie, all the remaining chairs were immediately taken, including the ones upstairs, yet people were still standing at the back, near the windows and even on the stair that led to the upper part of the hall. “Ah? This place has a one thousand seating capacity yet it's filled up and people are still standing.” Carla whispered in shock. “Of course, even people that's not in the senior year came to listen to his lectures.” “I'm professor Martin, I will be taking you all in the practical sides of business and marketing for your final year in school.” That voice, why does it seem so familiar? Carla immediately turned around to face the stage. The moment her eyes met that of the man on the stage, her heart stopped. “Impossible.”
