I’d calmed down by the time Leo handed me my hot chocolate, I was still shaking slightly, but the fear had subsided and I could think more clearly. Another spike of fear shot through me when I saw Grayson walk in dripping with blood, his top was so drenched it clung to his body and I couldn’t tell you what colour it had originally been.
There was this smaller part of me though, a very dark part that was glad the mutt was dead and had suffered.
It was really late and I could see Amber struggling to stay awake. “Go to bed, I’m fine,” I smiled at her.
“No way, I’m not leaving you.”
“I’ll be fine, I’m sure Grayson will find me in a minute.”
She looked at me, worry in her eyes, but then she nodded and got up. Leo came over and kissed my cheek. “You need me, you come knock ok?”
