wæææh!
wæææh!!
wæææh!!!
it's the cry of a baby as it echoes across the four corners of the palace, never have it been Heard that a baby cried this much, the queen was in labor for seven days and the onye uweyi ọcha(what is called a nurse in English) at a point taught she wouldn't make it.
The queen went in and out of coma, and the sky poured out thunder, lightening like it was angry but it didn't rain, it has not rained in Umua Laoma for the past nine months, some said it is the gods punishment on the people of the lands and after a while the river begin to dry up, the king had to look for solution to get water and a well was dunged but even with the well there was no sufficient water like they used to be..
"It is raining,!!!"
the guards outside the ụlọ ọrịa( called the royal clinic), screamed in excitement as he throw down his sword..
"It is raining the gods has blessed us onces again"
he said as he ran with full speed towards the king's chambers to announce the fall of the rain. As he was running towards the chamber one of the uweyi ọcha also was running towards the king chambers to announce the arrival of his child.
"My King!!, your majesty have made a safe delivery... it is raining"
they both said intersecting their words in happiness..
"Can you both calm down and speak one at a time, the king could not understand"
one of the King's personal guard spoke..
"My King,Your majesty the Queen have put to birth safely, both mother and child are well and ok"
The Royal uweyi ọcha said
This caused the King to jump off from his chair in celebration.
"For the gods have heard my cry and grant me favour, for they have blessed their faithful servant with joy, for I have found grace in their sight"
The King Said.
"You!"
He pointed to one of the guard at the entrance to his chamber.
"Yes your Majesty"
he replied
"Go and spread the news to the royal Òtíḿkpú( known an announcer) tell him to pass the message of the King to his people.. My Child have been born safely, all the people of this land should be happy and rejoice, for today is a good day"
he said to the Guard, the Guard bow his head and take his leave.
"It is raining heavily"
another Guard said
"that is what I came to announce, for rain have decided to visit us"
said the guard who came from the entrance of the ụlọ ọrịa( called a clinic)
"Ahh!"
the King made an exclamation in surprise and joy.
"The gods have given me double blessing on this fine day, you run after the first guard and add this to the message, I will hold a party at my palace to celebrate today for indeed the gods have remembered his people"
the King said, now facing the Uweyi ọcha(a nurse) who came with the news of the child.
"Least I forget, what is the s*x of the child? because I was too happy I did not ask, not like it matter but what is the gender of the child?"
the King said in anticipation.
"My King, we can not determine the gender of the child yet"
she said
"Why if I may ask? I thought when a child is born the gender is known immediately?"
He asked.
"My King, before I left the ụlọ ọrịa, the baby used its hands to cover it's private part and all was done to remove it but it didn't move"
This caused the King to be a bit anxious, although it was never written that only a male child could assume the throne, the King had in all honesty hoped and prayed for a male child, He thought of the backlash from his people, "after all this years you have given birth to a female, who would take over your name?" but then again he would probably be happy over any child than no child at all..
"Can I meet this child that has caused such great joy in one day?"
he said
"No your Majesty not yet you can meet the child later today"
she said.
The joy over the Rain fall, Ringed in all of the Kingdom as both Young and Old was seen enjoying the down pour by bathing underneth it singing praises to the gods who had made it possible..
Kong!
Kong!!
Kong!!!
the sound of a bell being hit with a stick rang across the street full of people bathing under the rain, as people wondered what news the royal Òtíḿkpú could have that made him walk under this rain.
"My people, the King's people, the people of the land of Umua Laoma, I have great news, for the Queen has put to birth safely, amongst the Rain fall, this is a great sign from the gods that the new child will be a blessing to us the people of this land and as such, the King calls all young and old to celebrate with him, on the birth of the Heir to the throne"
Kong!
Kong!!
Kong!!!
he kept ringing as he scream at the top of his voice.
"Hmmm, this is strange, what does the birth of the king's child has to do with the rain?",
asked one of the villager
"My friend why do you act like you have not been in this kingdom all this while, for the seven days that the queen was in labor it didn't rain but all of a sudden it rained as she put to birth, what's so strange about that?"
said another villager
"You all are quick to forget that the sudden disappearance of the river and the rain not falling all happened immediately the queen took in after so many years"
said another
"that is true oh, and it happened after the King and the Queen went on that Journey"
said another
"Shut up your mouth, you guys talk too much, if you want your head off your neck keep talking, just enjoy the rain, celebrate the birth and mind your business"
said an elderly woman amongst the crowd of people..
It was the evening of that same day, just after sun set and the rain was still falling heavily, the King was Ushered by his guard to the royal ụlọ ọrịa, to see the queen and his baby, to his surprise the baby looks nothing like what he expected。
It has a white curly 4c Hair with an unusual big eyes that was blue like the sky,it's skin as scaly as like a snake and with it hands both crossed on top of her private part, but with all this it was beautiful..
"What is this?"
the King as the onye uweyi ọcha there present
"My King it's the baby delivered of your Majesty"
she replied
"Why does it looks like that? this is strange"
he said
"My King, I don't know what to say but as it was delivered and dropped in the basket it started to have scaly skin, but I guess with time it will get better"
she said
"so you are trying to say you don't know how and why my child looks like this? and you hoping the child gets better?"
the King Said angrily as he walked towards the basket in which the child was laid, just at that moment the child whom had covered it's private part began to let go..
"The child is moving its hands, I can see it's"
the King said this made the uweyi ọcha present run towards the King.
"Oh it's a, it's a Bo..y,"
he said in excitement and then there the hands removed to reveal the gender.
"It's a Girl, My King Congratulations"
they all said but the King wasn't happy, The Queen who was laying on her bed looked more scared that happy about the birth of her child, disappointed the King Walked towards his Queen who he noticed was scared
"What is Wrong my Queen?"
the King asked his wife,
"That Child, that Child is Evil!!!"
she screamed in fear.
