Adalynn POV After about an hour, Phoenix and I decided to head home. When we reached the wood line, Phoenix shifted back to my human form, and I got dressed and headed back to the training grounds. Before I reached my car, I spotted two vehicles escorting the Alpha King’s car to the Pack House. Curious about who was visiting and getting the special treatment, I walked toward the side of the Pack House to see who it was. Alpha King Lance, Luna Lucy, and Beta Jake were standing at the top of the stairs at the entrance. Beta Jake stepped down as the car stopped and opened the door. He bowed his head slightly in greeting as a young man stepped out. He was tall, at least 6’6, with jet-black hair that looked like he had just got out of the bed and ran his fingers through it instead of a comb. His black t-shirt clung to every muscle on his chest and arms; he had muscles for days. He has tattoo sleeves on both arms and one peeking above the collar of his shirt. I continued to rake my eyes over him, and damn, he looks good in those jeans. I didn’t recognize him immediately, so I stepped closer, eavesdropping on the greetings. He reached out and shook Beta Jake’s hand before moving up the stairs toward the Alpha King and his Luna and slightly tilted his head. Luna Lucy ran, put her arms around him, and hugged him. He had to lean over to hug Luna Lucy as he was about a foot taller than she was. Then I heard Luna Lucy say, ‘Look at you, Jasper; I am so glad you’re home. I missed you, my son, as she put her hands on both sides of his face. ‘How was your flight? Have you eaten? Do you …..’ He laughed, interrupting his mom, and in a deep, velvety voice said, ‘Breathe, Mom, I am happy to see you, and I am happy to be home too. I will answer all your questions as soon as I get inside, OK?’ I gasped, ‘Jasper’? I couldn’t believe how much he had changed. Two years ago, when he left to study abroad, he was fifteen and had just started to fill out. What a difference a couple of years can make. Phoenix pushed forward to get a better look, ‘Wow, he has changed in all the right places.’ I only nodded my head at her in complete agreement. The Alpha King reached out and pulled Jasper in for a hug. “Jasper, my boy, look at you,” he said as he held his son’s shoulders. “Let’s go up. We have so much to catch up on. Your Mother has been busy preparing all your favorite dishes for your arrival.” Jasper nodded his head as the Alpha King led the way. Walking up the stairs, The Alpha King told Jasper about the party his mom arranged for his eighteenth birthday which happened when he was overseas. ‘She’s invited every she-wolf in the northern hemisphere.’ he laughed and winked at this Luna. The Luna retorted, “Well, I think I will invite every she-wolf from the southern hemisphere too. Maybe I’ll send invites to Paris as well. It’s a mother’s right to give her darling boy the best chance of finding his mate.” She winked at the Alpha King, “We’ll have to build a stadium to house them all.” She laughed at her joke. The Alpha snorted, “Of course, my Luna, whatever you want.” As if he sensed someone was watching, he turned and looked directly at me, and I froze as those piercing blue eyes connected and held on to mine. Dear Goddess, he was breathtaking; his face had sharper edges and the most stunning blue eyes I had ever seen. His jeans and t-shirt were straining to hold in his muscles. His jet-black hair remained, but it was styled in a more casual, "just f****d" manner. I could see his eyes focus on me and when he recognized me, he smirked and gave me a small bow before following his parents in to the palace. “Close your mouth, Adalynn,” Phoenix chortled. Embarrassed, I quickly returned to the training ground to get my car. I jumped in the car and headed home as soon as possible. “Geez, Phoenix, I cannot believe how much he’s changed. I’m curious if he is still the same smart-ass boy who left here two years ago.” Phoenix hummed, “Wonder what Wolfgang looks like now.” As I drove home, my thoughts drifted back to the day he left. “Bye, Little Red,” he called me. Are you attempting to match the stop sign’s color? Perhaps we could locate a buried treasure by following your freckles?” He chuckled at his joke. “Jasper, you’re so funny. You’ll regret what you said a few years from now and wish a redhead would give you attention. It is difficult to be rare and beautiful, but someone has to break up the dull and boring,” I said. “Whatever, Little Red. If you’re lucky, I’ll see you when I get back.” He said with a sly smile, turned, and walked away. “It takes a real man to handle a redhead,” I stated, not wanting him to have the last word. I always liked the fact that my hair was red. I was different from everyone else in the pack. I always wondered where I got my red hair from. No one in my pack or any other packs I was aware of had my hair coloring. My skin wasn’t as tan as everyone else’s, but I was unique.
