I lean on the back of my car and watch Adalynn walk out of school. She is absolutely perfect and all mine. As she walks toward me, we make eye contact. She smiles sweetly at me, and my heart melts. I have missed her today. I hate that all my classes are on the other side of campus. I only got to see her at lunch.
Adalynn’s birthday is December 29th. The next full moon will be on what the humans call New Year’s Eve. I won’t be here for her birthday, which I hate. Dad and I have a meeting we must attend that week. I will return in time to claim her. Luna Lucy of the Black Moon River is planning a Winter Solstice Ball that night. It will be a huge affair.
