On To New Beginnings

It’s been an hour since Monica left and I can’t help but to keep looking at the clock wondering where the hell she is. Just when I think I’m gonna loose it, she finally comes in. “Ok, so I’ve gotten everything packed that I want to bring. We just have to wait until everyone is good and intoxicated before we go. I also asked the Alpha if I could get a weekend pass to de-stress from having you as a best friend and he agreed.” She pauses, “Sorry, had to give a good reason for it. And trust that it came with a lengthy warning on all the reasons I should cut ties.” She says as she rolls her eyes. “Ok but that just helps you get out, what about me?” I ask. “I have some spray to mask your smell, since this is last minute, pillows will go in your bed. If they ask why I have so much I’ll say there a parties happening and I don’t know what to wear.” She explains. “I’ll find a way to extend my trip a little longer before coming back…” she trails off. “COME BACK?!” I yell. “What do you mean come back?!” “Well I have to set you up with a new phone and stuff. And I have to come back because I’m still a minor, I’ll be back once I turn 18 and pass the state test to get my diploma.” She pauses, with a heavy sigh. “As much as I hate to say it, they’ll look for me. They won’t put in much effort for you…”. She’s got a point. And even though I know it’s true, it still stings. You would think I would be used to it by now but I’m not. I used to have friends, people used to care about me. Then one day, they all hated me. They look at me with disgusts, over something I had no control over. They don’t physically a***e me, just ignore me. They dismiss me like I’m nothing. Blaming me for all the problems that happen because I’m a curse against the pack. The only reason they don’t throw me out is because they don’t want the backlash that would come with it. At least this way I’ll have some kind of control over how I leave. “Hey…I know it may not mean much, but I love the hell outta you. If I didn’t like guys so much I’d marry you, you beautiful blasian beauty”, she laughs. “Come on lets get your stuff in my car and go to my place and binge some Insecure before we leave.” She sprays my stuff down before we take it down to her Range Rover and then we head to her place for some serious girl time. 3 hours later… I’m currently in the most uncomfortable position in the back of her vehicle as she drives towards the pack border. She stops momentarily so the warriors can inspect her car before letting us by. I try not to laugh out loud at their jokes about all the crap she’s got in the back. Soon enough we are on our way out. About 30 minutes later she tells me I can climb up to the front thank Goddess. “That was the most uncomfortable ride EVER.” I exclaim “Oh quit your bitching, I got you out. Now do your part.” She says “I Arya Simone Taylor denounce Red Moon Pack as my home and Esteban Cortez as my Alpha!” I scream at the top of my lungs. I immediately get a headache as a swell of voices hit my head at once before abruptly stopping. By the time I open my eyes I see we’ve pulled over on the side of the road. “I was told it would hurt but damn! That hurt like a sweaty b***h workin in a sweat shop!” Monica yells. I can’t help but look at her like she’s lost her damn mind. “That made no sense at all!” I laugh. “Yea just like how bad that damn headache was!” She responds. This girl has lost it… we start heading on the same path again and I almost let myself get lost in watching the trees blur by when I remember I have questions for this girl. “Monica, why did you get so serious when I told you about the creepy voice?” I ask. She sits there quieter than usual, like she’s trying to think of how to answer. The longer she stays quiet the more nervous I get. Monica’s POV Where do I even begin? Just out right say it? Hell, I don’t know. I’ve barely even wrapped my head around the s**t myself. The Goddess visits me every night damn near, making sure I know everything I need to know as her guardian. Poor thing doesn’t even realize how special she is. Welp, time to change her life altogether… “Do you know the story about how I came about?” I ask. “I don’t know the specifics but I always hear your mom tell people how you’re her miracle baby.” She answers. “She isn’t kidding. After she had Mathew, she had to get a hysterectomy. They told her having anymore kids could kill her so my dad insisted on it, he knew he wouldn’t be able to handle losing his mate.” I explained and waited for her reaction. “Wait…that doesn’t make sense. You can have babies without a damn uterus Monica. It’s impossible.” She says “Yea I know. The night before my mom discovered she was pregnant by me, Selene spoke to her. Said that she was gonna wake up pregnant with a guardian of the dragon. Told her that I needed to be raised accordingly and that she would guide her on how to do that. Next morning she went to the pack doctor for an exam and he told her she was with child, and here I am!” I explain. I sit and wait for her reaction. I can see from the corner of my eye that she’s looking at me like I’ve lost my mind. I don’t blame her, dragons haven’t even been talked about, let alone seen, in thousands of years. Suddenly she bust out in a semi deranged laughter. Damn sis. “Dragons?! Are you freaking kidding me. Monica, ain’t no damn dragons flyin around this b***h!” She yells. Aw hell, I’ve got the girl using words from my “no-no book” as she says. Bless her pure little heart. “So if you’re suppose to be guarding a dragon. Where is it? And why I haven’t heard anything about this dragon?!” She asks putting air quotes around the word dragon. I let out a heavy sigh before I officially blow her mind. “Well hun…you haven’t seen the dragon because you haven’t turned 18 and net her yet. But apparently she’s already trying to talk to you. You know, the crypt keeper voice…” I slowly explain. I watch as her eyes bulge out of her head and her jaw drops. This is gonna take a minute. “I’m sorry, what?! Hell no. Ain’t no way in hell! It’s doubtful I’m even gonna have a wolf, let alone a DRAGON! Have you lost your mind?!” She shrieks. “Your mom didn’t have a wolf because she was never a wolf. She’s from a dragon bloodline that’s been dormant for thousands of years. When she conceived you, your fathers very strong hybrid bloodline was enough to wake your bloodline back up. Hell you might have a dragon and a wolf for all we know.” I explain. She suddenly gets quiet, but from her facial expressions I think her dragon is talking to her. I haven’t even explained how much that worries me. It’s dangerous for a dragon spirit to reach out prematurely. It could cause a lot of problems. Before I can get her attention she starts screaming in pain and then passes out. s**t s**t shhhit! See what I mean?! I try calling her name and waking her up but I’m not getting anything. Looks like I won’t be returning to the pack either. I gotta get her to the safe house. I call my mom and explain to her what’s happening and she assures me she’ll handle it on her end. I stop at a convenience store to get some aspirin and snacks for when she wakes up. If she wakes up. No Monica, you can’t think like that. The Goddess wouldn’t put her here just for her not to serve her purpose. I fill up the Range before hoping back on the freeway. Los Angeles, here we come…
