The Announcement

Jax POV

Thirty minutes until dinner and the announcement of the fake pregnancy. I’m really hoping this goes as planned, I’m ready for that psycho to be dealt with already. I take another look at myself in the mirror making sure I look presentable before heading down. Ever since Arya said I look good in green, I’ve found a way to wear it with everything I put together. Right now I’ve settled on a dark green button up with black jeans and shoes to match. I walk through the bathroom connecting me to Mavericks side and see Arya sitting on the bed looking lost in thought. She looks beautiful in her taupe t-shirt dress paired with her green converse and a faded camouflage jacket. She’s got her hair in a messy bun with a few stray hairs framing her face and the outfit is perfectly paired with her gold diamond encrusted hoop earrings and a gold necklace. Maverick steps out wearing a forest green shirt with dark wash jeans and his brown boots.

“Alright, are we ready for this bogus announcement?” He asks. We both silently nod before we all head down to the main dining hall wit the rest of the pack.

“I need to call that contractor and see if he can widen the hallways…” Maverick thinks out loud. Arya suddenly stops walking, making us both stop to see what’s wrong.

“Why so I can sleep in a different room for weeks again?! Just leave it! I don’t need both of you walking with me everywhere anyway.” She exclaims before rushing past us towards the dining hall.

“I think she’s tired of all the work on the house.” I chuckle. I don’t blame her, he’s been changing things since we got here as he comes across it. The workers need a break.

“Plus you are overworking those poor construction workers! They have families too you know!” Arya yells from the bottom of the stairs.

“Fine, I’ll leave it be!” Maverick yells back. Once we get to the dining hall we get our food before the announcement. Tonight’s dinner is a crab broil with all the seafood we can consume. I’m glad I was able to convince them to have seafood nights, it’s my favorite thing to eat. After we finish Maverick stands to get everyone’s attention. Once it gets quiet he proceeds with the announcement while I pay attention to the crowd along with Jasmine, Monica, and Lexi, looking for any signs of the spy.

“Attention Silver Springs Pack, me and your Luna have some news for you!” He says as he takes Arya’s hand. I link her to cool it on her fake smile before everyone else notices it before he continues. “We are happy to announce that we are expecting our first pup soon!” He yells as everyone erupts in cheers and applause. After he sits down, our table is immediately swarmed with pack members giving their congratulations. Once everyone finally clears out, we all head in our own directions, discreetly looking for anything out of place. Just as I’m about to give up I notice an elderly woman sneaking off into the forrest. I link the others the let them know where I am and they let me know they are on the way. I keep following her through the Forrest and notice she goes farther than the others have gone. As I follow her I try and figure out where I have seen her in the pack before. Soon Maverick and Arya are next to me while the others continue to catch up. After about an hour of walking she finally comes to a cliff that overlooks the ocean. We all sit back watching, waiting to see what she does when suddenly Orion materializes right in front of us.

“I’ve caught you know.” He says with an evil smirk before he grabs Arya and they disappear. It was a trap and we walked right into it. The plan we had that was suppose to help us catch him backfired and now she’s gone. Just as I start to charge at the woman we followed she morphs into another woman who smiles at me right before disappearing herself. This can’t be happening, we had this all planned out, it was suppose to work. In the distance I can hear Maverick’s growls and the packs sorrowful howls in reaction to the news of her k********g. We have to find her.

Arya’s POV

Great. All that planning just to walk right into a trap. I should’ve known that idea came too easy! I’ve gotta get out of here. I’m tied up and blindfolded and I can tell I’m riding in a car in the back seat of an SUV most likely, I just wish I knew where we were going. I try to reach out to Shadow and get nothing. I try Onyx and get nothing as well. That’s odd, usually I get one or the other, I’ve never had this happen before. I try to move my hands a little just to see how tight they are tied when the blindfold is suddenly pulled off of my face.

“Finally, you’re awake.” Orion says from the driver’s seat. He then pulls over and once he is in park the passenger gets out. He comes around to my door and opens it before pulling me out and placing me in the passenger seat. He unties my hands before taking my place in the back seat.

“You’re just going to let me ride without being tied up?” I ask.

“While you’re disconnected from Onyx and your wolf, yes.” He calmly responds before driving off.

“What do you mean, disconnected?” I almost yell.

“I’ve injected you with a potion that disconnects you from them. You’re basically human. And don’t start going on about you being pregnant because I know that’s a damn lie.” He responds.

“What makes you think I’m not?” I retort.

“My last spy was actually a bug placed in Maverick’s office since Alpha Cortez and his son came to visit you.” He smiles.

Son of a b***h. I should’ve never let them on the pack territory. How the hell am I gonna get away now?

“Soon we will make it to our destination and I can remove Onyx from you and place her within someone new. After that I’ll have no use for you.” He explains

“Why would you even do that? Don’t you think she’ll resent you even more for doing that?” I asked

“Even more?” He asks with a hint of anger.

“She doesn’t say it but I know she’s disappointed in what your doing Orion. What’s the point in all this if you’re k********g someone who doesn’t want to be with you?” I ask

“She does, she just needs help seeing that.” He retorts. “Now shut up since all you can do is piss me off apparently.” He yells

“You can’t just separate us. You don’t know what that will cause, everyone knows not to go against the Moon Goddess. You could end up killing her!” I try reasoning with him. He has to understand how dangerous this is.

“I’ll deal with it once it’s done. Right now I just need her out of you so we can proceed with the rest” he says before turning the radio on loud. The rest of the drive is silent, my mind is racing trying to find a way out of this. After about 2 hours we have made it to this small cottage within the forest and he leads me through. I follow him to the basement where a man in a lab coat is waiting with a variety of tools and needles.

“W-what are you going to do with that?” I ask

“You’ll see.” Orion says with a smirk

The man grabs me and puts me on a bed, strapping me down and limiting my mobility.

“You’ll feel a pinch before you black out. Once you wake up, you’ll be released and free to do whatever needed.” The man explains

“Wait, what? What are you going to do? You can’t just leave me in the middle of the forest! What if something happens to me!” I scream

“We can do whatever we please after I’ve gotten Onyx. Let’s just hope you were smart enough to learn how to survive without her.” Orion scoffs. Before I can protest any further I feel a pinch in the side of my neck before everything goes black.

Two hours later…

I wake up still on the bed but when I look around there is no trace of anyone else ever being here. I call out to Onyx and get nothing, when I call out to shadow there’s barely a whisper when she tells me she’s still there. They really did it, they took Onyx from me…why on earth would he do such a terrible thing. I walk around the house looking for anything that will be useful but come up empty handed. I can’t even shift into shadow and run back to the pack because she’s too weak. The only thing I can do is lay back in the bed and get some rest before leaving in the morning. I have to get Onyx back somehow, I don’t even want to think about what he will do with her. I hope he didn’t hurt her and I hope she gives them hell.
