Chapter Fourteen *First Person's Perspective* ~Marie~ A week later, I was very okay, and then I resumed office. My life was back to normal, but there was one thing that changed. Mr. Lazarus Grey. I thought that we had settled our differences that day. Turns out he was only emotional. Not really emotional, though, but you know what I mean. Nevertheless, he was only emotional because I got kidnapped, and he needed me to feel safe. He also didn't want to lose his Alpha title. The thought of confronting him, and telling him to his face that I was the girl from the party that night, and I knew he was a werewolf, often crossed my mind. But I let it go. I still didn't want him to find out about my kids and Kealden, and be overly protective. Then my kids and I would be in danger, caught in between their drama, and... "Miss Marie, what are you thinking hardly on? You're at work, and your full attention is needed here for efficient and reliable results." That's him. I stared at his face, not knowing what my response should be. Now that I knew about his identity, I saw him in a different light, like some sort of monstrous heartless creature. Technically, that's what werewolves are. "Stop staring at my face and get. To. Work," his voice pulled me out of my trance again. I took my eyes off his face and looked towards the computer monitor in front of me, but I wasn't seeing it. What if I was all wrong about him? What if he was just a normal human being-typical of a rich, spoilt jerk? What if he wasn't the father of my kids? Okay, that should be out. The resemblances are so obvious that you don't need a DNA test to confirm. "...that's what I want you to do, okay? Make it snappy. We should leave in an hour." Uh oh! He was saying something to me, and I wasn't listening AGAIN. "Um...sir, could you please..." I stuttered. It was embarrassing, but I had to ask anyway, so I'll just go for it. "Let me guess-you were so busy thinking that you didn't grab the words I said." Yay, he hit the jackpot. Ha-ha. "What are you there smiling about? You think this is funny?" Oh boy! Did I really just laugh at my own... "No! No, sir, it's just that...I made this joke in my head, and it was so funny, I had to laugh. So happens...that...you were...talking...at...the...same time. But I was listening! I heard everything you said." I spoke word to word at that point, 'cause I didn't know what to say that wouldn't rile him up the more. "Oh! Okay. Now, let me tell you this old joke that suddenly popped into my head, as you were talking. Mind you, I still heard everything you said... The joke is, "you're fired". Gather up your belongings and get the hell out of this building." Was that supposed to be funny? "Ha-ha-ha. Oh my God, sir, you have an amazing sense of humor. Ha-ha, so funny," I had to laugh at it. It was said that when your employer makes a joke, no matter how silly it sounded, you had to laugh. He wasn't laughing. Why? He just made a joke and wasn't laughing about it. Oh holy Mary, mother of Jesus, it just dawned on me. "Oh no! That wasn't an actual joke, right?" He didn't respond and just left to his office. Of course, I followed him. This was the only job I could do without trying too hard, and I made a very huge amount of money. Why would he even fire me just like that? What was my offense? Up until today, I am yet to figure that. "Mr. Grey! Mr. Grey, you know you can't just fire me without a valid reason." That's right, I knew my rights. I saw the shock on his face. Even though I didn't go through with college and get a certificate, which is just a paper, I knew all my rights and bla bla bla...back to the main issue at hand. "Well, guess what, Miss Marie. I am above the law, and I can do whatever I want. This is also a private organization," he informed. Now I had to plead. "Look, sir, I love my job so much, and it is my only source of income. As humans, we all make mistakes. Even supernatural beings too-they aren't above mistakes. And so are you, even though you might be above the law. What I'm saying is that there is a lot going on in my life right now, and I shouldn't have acted the way I did. I'm sorry, sir." Now this is what I call professionalism. "Well, Miss Marie who isn't above mistakes, before you conclude on your theory about humans and supernatural beings, it would be nice if you made some research. I am above mistakes because I am perfect...now get out. I don't know what point or difference you're trying to make." Come on. Did God really have to give me this type of a person as my boss? "Sir, it was...family issues and..." "On your appointment letter, didn't you see the part where it said you aren't to mix personal issues with work? Do you know how many family crises I have? No, and that's because when I'm at work, I face work only. It's not like you have kids anyway, so what could you possibly be thinking about? Your mom and sister looked fine to me the last time I saw them." "Sir, I certainly do not have kids, but there are more other things to worry about." "Since you're above mistakes, please forgive me, the imperfect one. I mean, even God forgives," I said, and he sighed. "Fine, you're re-hired." Just like that? Was that all I needed to say? "...Back to work." Oops! I missed it again. "Sir, could you repeat what you said, please?" He stared at me for a few minutes, with a totally blank expression. "The other one, sir-not this one. I heard it clearly," I informed, and he finally blinked. God! He is so good-looking. s**t! Shut up, Marie. This is so not you. "Forget about it. Go home and sort whatever it is that's troubling you. Make sure your head is cleared when you come back," he said, making me nod and smile. He was such a complicated and bipolar being, but what else could I do other than get used to it? As soon as I scanned my entry card, the door swung open. But I got stopped from leaving when he asked me to wait. "Wait! I have a confession to make." I froze in my spot. What was this about now?
