Chapter Fifteen
First Person's Perspective
Marie
"Yes sir?" I said, turning in his direction, anticipating what would happen next. I really do hope it was something good, something I would laugh about, because right now, I couldn't handle any bad news or confessions.
"What? You were on your way...why the sudden stop?" Huh? Didn't he just say he had a confession to make?
"You said you had a confession to make, that's why I stopped," I responded, and he scoffed.
"You're one hell of a character to deal with. What possible confession would I have to make, TO YOU?"
I just stood there, looking dumbfounded. It was like he was speaking gibberish.
"I wasn't talking to you," he said again for more clarification, waving his cell phone in the air to show that he was on a phone call.
All the blood I had in me rushed to my cheeks; I was so freaking embarrassed. Mr. Lazarus was going to pay for this. I would make sure to give him the most embarrassing moment of his life.
"It's nobody, babe, just a nosy employee of mine," I heard him say as I walked out of the office, stomping my feet really hard on the floor. Poor ground!
Oh great heavens, nosy employee? He had a girlfriend? I had no idea why I felt cheated. Everything was just weird. If I was his mate, then why did he have a girlfriend? Wasn't that considered cheating in their world?
Sigh! 'Why do you even care, Marie? You don't care about him, nor his life outside the office,' I scolded myself, repeating the words in my head. 'You don't care about him, you don't give two f***s about him.'
I couldn't even understand myself anymore.
The loud blaring of a car horn pulled me out of my thoughts.
"f**k!" It all happened so fast; I fell to the ground, but the car narrowly missed hitting me.
A lady walked out of the car, walked straight to me, and gave me a resounding slap on the face.
What?
"What was that for?" I asked in shock, holding my cheeks.
"You're so stupid. As a matter of fact, you deserve another one."
Her words were swiftly followed by another slap.
"What? Miss..." I was too stunned to even form actual words.
"How could you be so clumsy and walk right into the road without even checking to be sure that it's free?"
"I get it, it was my fault, but that doesn't give you the right or reason to slap me twice on my face, like I was a teenager or something," I fired back.
"AT this point, even a teenager would act better than this. One more word from you, and I'll beat you up. I'm a very crazy-ass b***h, you know? Don't mind all these classy looks."
She did look classy, but well, who cared? I would compete fairly with her.
"That's not any of my concern. If you lay a damn finger on me again, I'll show you what a crazy b***h looks like and behaves, don't mind this classy look of mine."
She c****d a brow.
"You know, I am really speechless at how you're behaving right now. I could have f*****g KILLED YOU, and it was all your fault, but no one would have seen that. I would have been labeled a murderer. Do you know what that would have done to my reputation?"
"Well, it's a good thing you're a good driver, to have narrowly avoided the accident. You should be proud of yourself," I responded.
This wasn't how I should have been acting. I just saw my life flash across my eyes. I should be thanking the Lord and thanking her too, but why did she slap me, not once, but twice? That riled me up, as if what I had to go through with Mr. Lazarus wasn't enough, she had to add hers.
"Y ou're so unbelievable," she said, making her way back to her car.
Sigh! Finally.
Surprisingly, she came back.
"You do happen to work at L-Tech, right?"
"Yes, why'd you ask?"
"The company is two buildings away from here. You're walking in this direction, and you look like one of them, with that leash on your neck."
She responded.
How many rude people do I have to deal with today?
"This is not a leash; it is a lanyard, which has my ID card on it," I explained in annoyance.
What was she even trying to imply?
"Looks more like a leash to me, 'cause once you have it on, you tend to be controlled around, just like a dog."
I had enough and moved to leave.
When I took a glance behind me, he was there, Mr. Lazarus was watching through the window of
his car. Though it was tinted, I knew he was
watching us. What else would explain why he
would just be parked there?
"Where do you think you're going? I'm not done
talking to you, young lady!" Good God, please
give me patience. I do not want to end up in jail.
That is not an example for my kids.
"What do you want?"
"Do you have any idea who I am?" She asked,
posing like a model, with her hands positioned
like a kettle, one on her waist and the other like a
spout.
"Why should I care?" I asked, rolling my eyeballs,
with my arms folded across my chest. Let's not
forget the c*****g of my eyebrows.
"Because I'm the damn CEO's fiancée, you idiot."
Oh! She was the one he was talking to over the
phone.
I kind of wondered if I had ever met her because
right when she stepped out of the car, she looked
familiar, but I decided not to think too much
about it.
The memory of what happened a few minutes
ago flashed through my mind, and I felt anger
surging in my chest.
I felt like giving her a punch in the face, but I had
no reason to do that. It's not like Lazarus showed
any interest in me, nor do I have any interest in
him. But I just felt like beating her up because it
felt as though he was cheating on me.
God! My life was messed up, I was losing my
sanity, and everything was confusing. Now I felt
angry and disturbed about Mr. Lazarus's
relationship with this woman, but of course, I
would never give anyone the pleasure of seeing
me emotional about it.
"So? Should I go on my knees and begin to kiss
your feet?" I asked, sounding as nonchalant as I
could be.
"What? You're not scared of losing your job?" She
asked, looking a bit confused.
"Why should I be? You're the one who employed
me," I simply said.
"Humph! We'll see about that soon." Where in the
world did this woman come from? The way some
people act never ceases to amaze me.
"I should be on my way now; you're wasting my
time. I have a family to take care of, unlike some
other people who threaten to fire someone they
didn't hire." I had barely moved two steps when
she drew me backward, and I received a very firm
kiss from her palm on my cheek.
This was it; she was so going to get it from me.
"What did I tell you about raising your hand on
me again?" I dropped the little purse I was
holding on the floor. I didn't care if we were in
public. We were going to act like kids if that's
what she wanted.
'I would not be any f*****g bigger person, just as
my mom had always preached, I was going to
vent all the anger I had in me on her. She chose
the wrong person and day.'
'Enough talking, Marie, just do what you want to
do.' My subconscious mind screamed, and I
kicked into action.
I gave two heartwarming slaps, one right after
another.
"What? You cunt, how dare you?" As she said
those words, her hand was already out to give a
comeback. I held it firmly in place, just as it was
about to meet my cheek.
I grabbed a handful of her hair, and she grabbed
mine. I began twisting and turning it around.
Soon, I was on the floor, with the rude b***h on
top of me. It was a struggle, and after a while, we
switched sides. I had successfully turned her the
other way and didn't hesitate to give her all the
punches my fist could give, just as she did to me.
It was a hell of a bloody fight. I was bleeding
from my nose and mouth, and so was she.
I was still venting all the anger in me when I felt
strong, large arms around my waist. In a swift
move, I was in the air. That still didn't stop me
from struggling to get out of his grip. I was
kicking the air.
"Why are two grown women behaving like kids?
How do you two feel about yourselves?" Lazarus
said, sounding really angry.
"You're my P.A. and you're my girlfriend. You both
know the media is everywhere. Why this childish
act? If you two have a problem, can't you sit and
make peace like adults?" He was saying, but that
was the least of my concerns. And I could see in
the b***h's eyes that she still didn't care about
what he was saying.
She launched at me, and I tried everything
possible to break free from his grip. I wasn't
done with her.

But of course, I couldn't. How could a person be
so strong? Oh, I forgot, he was a werewolf. My
bad, I don't know how I always forget that.
Before she got to me, she was apprehended by a
guard.
"Will you two stop this madness?"
"No, I'm not done with this cunt," we both
chorused.
"No, you're the cunt, you cunt!" We chorused
again. Now when I look back at it, it's always
funny, but on that
