Chapter 8

Nickolas's P.O.V

I never break my eye contact on Kora while walking backwards to the dance floor, I'm not much of a dancer normally unless my mother makes me dance with her. But I knew I wanted to dance with her from the moment I saw her. Goddness she is beautful, her fare skin, big blue eyes and the most beautiful smile I have ver seen. Kora looks so nervous its cute honestly, I decided to give her a light spin before pulling her close to my chest. Her eyes locked on to mine as I place one hand on her waist, and the other is eneterlocked with hers. She follows my lead flawlessly, giving me all her trust, I can imagine that does not come easy for her. The song is starting to end, I spin her again, and this time i pull her close enough our bodies touch. Kora is shorter than I am, instead of looking at me with fear I felt her head rest on my chest for a moment. Kora jumps in a panic for a moment, she locates the same blonde who I gathered was Savannah, they exchange looks before Kora is yanking me out of the room, or rather out of the building. We walked to a boardwalk by the lake, the moon is full and beautiful. Most wolves would be jumping at the bit to go for a run. Blaze however, was competely happy being right here with our mate.

Nothing was said for a few mintues between us, but nothing needed to be said. I decided to break the ice with her, I knew she felt the mate bond just as I did. "I want you to come back with me, you and your infant." I said smiling. Kora face started to turn white, like she was afraid. I could tell she was nervous since I had no idea what being around an infant was like, she had every right to be concerned. Before I could say anything the sound of footsteps where approching. I felt her jump as the man cleared his throat. "Excuse me, Kora your being requested in the Alpha's office." The man says, he must be the gamma. Without thinking I growled and said "Which Alpha is asking?" I knew she was afraid of something other than the Beta. "I'm not allowed to say anything else, Kora will you please come with me?" He ask again. Kora slowly turns in the direction of the gamma, I reach for her hand and without a thought she grabs it, tightly holding me close to her. Even though we just met I could sense some of her emontions. She was scared, tense, and mad all at the same time. The gamma knocks on the door, the office must be soundproof because I couldn't hear anything on the other side, moments later the gamma opens the door and motions for Kora to enter, but I'll be damned if she goes in alone. Once the door is closed I see Beta Brent sitting on the couch with a beer in his hand, the smell of alcohol filled the room. The new made Alpha was leaning on the front of his desk with a beer bottle next to him. Kora still had my hand, "What do you want Alpha Jason?" she asked. Her eyes now where locked on him, his body, like she was preparing herself for an attack. "Look at here, trying to be all formal because Alpha Nickolas is in the room." Beta Brent says with a small laugh in his voice. What is the deal with this two? I knew the Beta thought he had some claim on her but what did the Alpha want? there was a split second of slience before the Alpha spoke. "Alpha Nickolas would you give me a moment with Kora?" He's eyes where now locked on her, like she was a piece of meat or something. A low growl left my lips, but then Kora turns her body towards mine, placing her free hand on my chest. She tries to give me a small smile but I knew better. "I'll be fine, it will be just a minute." She says looking at me. I growled and hated the idea but I listened to her and made my way to the door.

The office was soundproof to an extent, I would only be able to hear something loud. Pacing up and down the hallway as the time went from 1 minute, to 2 minutes which eventually turned to 10 minutes. Since I had no pack connection with her nor have I had the chance to mark her my abilites to sense her in trouble are limited. Something went bang. Not a loud bang but loud enough for mr to hear it. As much as I wanted to bust down that door I knew it would be foolish if nothing was happening, instead i'll put my ear to the door and see what comes from it. However, not a minute later I finally heard the worse scream imaginable. Now that is our mate! Blaze was pissed and so was I! I could careless about the rules when visiting other packs. I knocked taht door right of fthe damn hinges with my foot and saw Kora on the floor! I wanted to rip their throats out right there, what in the hell did thaey do! Her wrist, look, she can't get up.. sure enough she was usung her arms and elbows to get up from the ground. Kora's eyes are flooded with tears, she tried to hide them. Both the Alpha and Beta just stood there and laughed. "We're done, you can take her now." The Alpha says to me and all I could do was growl at him. If looks could kill he would be dead. Kora didn't fight me while I scooped her up and walked away. Once we were out of wolf hearing distance and Kora manage to somewhat stop the tears I put her down and tok her hands in my mine to look at the damage. She didn't say anything. "Kora I'm taking you to the clinic!" I was not going to let this slide. "No, no I need to go to Savannah's." she whimpered, what the hell would she do? Before I could even ask she took my hand in the one that didn't seem to be broken and we walked towards the main enterance of the pack house.

"Can you get Savannah please." Kora asked on of the staff memebers, why couldn't she just ask for Savannah herself? A few moments later her comes that same happy go luck blonde from the hallway, but instead of happy she looks competely pissed off. "holy s**t! What did they do now!" Savannh says taking Kora's wirst, but Kora said nothing. I learned not all the members of this pack lived in the ssme buliding, some had their own homes within the property line, Savannah's home wasn't fancy. Instead it was a nice size cottage with brick all around, outside stood a women in the doorway watching us walk up. I figured that must of been her mother. The look on her face wasn't shock, more like she had seen this before, the question was how many times? "Where is Hope?" Kora asked with a horsey ton in her voice, "She is asleep baby, come here let me see what they did this time." The women answers. What the hell does she mean This time? Without even thinking I lifted Kora up and placed her on the kitchen counter so the women could see the damage easier, Kora weighed almost nothing to be honest but she didn't fight me at all during the time. "Well the left one is only spranned, it will be better in 24 hours, but the right one is broken. " The women says, she goes into the hallways and comes back with a box that held a lot of medical and first aid items. "I'll have to reset it before I can wrap it okay Kora." Kora said nothing but whimpered at the touch. The women who I learned is named Amy reached for a glass of water and a pill out of the medical box and handed it to Kora, she took it with no issues. To muffle the sounds of her screams Kora burried her face into my chest, all I could do was hold her tightly so he could move away. Savannah then grabbed her upper arms to give her mother a better grip on the broken wirst. Between the sobs and the screams I know it hurt like a b***h. We have amazing healing abilites but if a bone is not set back into place correctly the healing process can't happen. My shirt was soaked where Kora places her face, but I don't care, my mate is in pain and the isn't anything I can do to take that away. Savannah then takes Kora into her room and shuts the door, I wanted nothing more than to follow them and hold Kora close, but she needs her friend more then she needs me. A few minutes later Savannah comes out without Kora and shuts the door, before I could say anyhing to her she says "we need to talk." walking into the family room. Her parents decide to join us which tells me that this is a serious conversation. Savannah's father offers me a drink and a chair in the family room across from Savannah and Amy. For a few minutes no one says a word, then Savannah's mother breaks the silence " Kora needs to leave her and take Hope with her." she says looking directly in my eyes. "Four years of abuse and if she takes anymore she may not live past 19 years old." Her eeys begin to fill up with tears and her voice shaking. "What kind of abuse?" I hated to ask but i needed to know. Before Amy could say another word Savannah says with a stone cold tone "The worse type of abuse possible." I had to menatally prepare myself for what I was about to hear..
