Elisa’s POV-
After everyone had the food that my mother had the maids prepare, I went to the table where I had the school timetables set up to give the children. They were organised by age, so all the children had to do was come up to me and give me their age, so I could give them the appropriate timetable. Elijah was going to help me.
All the dragons queued up quickly, all the children queued up in front of us. A lot of the older girls were being quite flirtatious towards Elijah, but the boys avoided being flirtatious towards me. I reckon it's because I was still wearing Drake’s shirt.
“It is the only way he can stake a claim on us. We could always scent mark him, keep the other Lycan girls away from him,” Storm giggled, in my head.
“No, we can’t scent mark him yet. He can’t tell us that we are his mate, even though we know, and you know we shouldn’t know,” I replied to her.
Elijah nudged me, “You keep having internal conversations with Storm, and people might notice.”
“Shut up, Elijah,” I chuckled.
I turned to a little girl who came over to me, and said, “Your Highness, I am four, can I please have the school timetable for my age?”
“Of course, you can, and call me Elisa. What is your name,” I smiled, down at her, as I grabbed one of the preschool learning timetables for her age.
As I handed it to her, she said, “Thank you, my name is Dawn. King Drake is my cousin.”
“So, that makes you a Princess, doesn’t it,” I asked.
“Yes and no, she is a Princess, by birth, but by our laws, she legally can not use the title, because she is not a child of the ruling King or Queen. As I am now King, and I have no children yet, she can’t use her title of Princess,” Drake explained, as he approached us.
“What Drake said,” she giggled.
Kenneth came over and scooped her up in his arms, and she squealed, “Kenny, my Kenny.”
“She will always be my Princess,” Kenneth beamed, at her excitement.
Drake couldn’t help but smile. Why did she call him Kenny? He told me once that he hated being called Kenny. Was there something I missed? Maybe I will ask Drake later. I smiled at them, “Oh and here are your timetables, Kenneth and Drake.”
“Aw, I have to go to school,” Kenneth groaned.
“Well, you may be a General, and Drake may be a King, but you are both still only fourteen. You have four more years left. There is no point in you both dropping out of school, when you could miss learning something important that could help you deal with a situation that may arise in the future,” I responded.
They both stared at me stunned. I focused on Drake’s expression though. The adoration in his eyes was so obvious, it was quickly followed by pride. Pride in me. Kenneth smiled, “You are right, Princess Elisa. I should go to school and learn as much as I can.”
“Elisa, Dad has asked me to come and help him. Will you be alright to hand out the timetables on your own,” Elijah asked me.
“She isn’t alone, I will help her,” Drake said.
“Really,” Elijah gasped.
Drake nodded, “Yes, I will. These are my people, and it will be good for me to help them this way as well. Plus, I will get to spend time with your sister.”
“Alright, I am going to go help my dad,” Elijah said, as he ran off.
“So, would you like to spend time with me,” I asked.
“Of course, I do. Now I should get to work,” Drake smiled, as he came to stand by my side.
We got to work and handed out timetables to all the children, so they knew when their lessons were going to be. The adults had been given maps of the pack lands, so they could find the school, warriors building, and the pack gym. Drake and I kept stealing looks at one another, but I caught him staring more than he caught me. It did make me wonder why he was watching me more.
“He is a dragon. He can feel the full mate bond already, unlike us,” Storm yawned in my head.
“I know, but he looked at us earlier with such pride earlier,” I replied.
“Because he realised how great a Queen we would make. Now, hurry up, I want quiet so we can go to sleep,” Storm yawned again, but this time even louder.
I shook my head at her, but then I let out a yawn. I could feel myself getting tired. Drake noticed me yawning, and asked, “Are you getting tired?”
I nodded, “Yes, but I will be okay. We don’t have much longer. I think Dad wants to say a few more words, and then it is over.”
“I think I need to say a few words to my people too. Could you let your dad know for me please,” Drake smiled at me.
“I can do one better. Give me your hand,” I smiled, holding my hand out.
“Why,” he asked, completely confused.
“Well, if you hold my hand, I can basically share my mindlinking abilities with you, and I can open a mindlink with my father, and you can talk to him. Just be warned you will hear him and me in your head, you will be able to hear our thoughts and we will be able to hear yours, so focus on what you want to say to him,” I explained.
“Alright,” he said, still unsure, but he took my hand.
I mentally pulled him into my mindlink, opening his mind in the link, and then connected my mindlink with my father, as I said, “Dad, King Drake is here with us, in the mindlink. He needs to speak with you.”
“Okay Elisa. Drake, what is wrong,” he asked, through the mindlink.
“I hear that you want to give a few more words to my people, is that right,” Drake replied.
“Yes, I do. I hope that is fine. Violet has decided on something and I need to announce it tonight, as it is for tomorrow,” Dad explained.
“That it fine. I just wanted to say that I would like to speak with my people, I have decided on something, and I want to announce it,” Drake replied.
“Oh, and what have you decided on,” Dad inquired.
“I think it would be best for me to form a council of Elders, seeing as I am so young, I would like to get their opinions on things I decide, before I finalise them,” Drake responded.
“That is a wonderful idea,” Elisa squealed, causing both Drake and my father to cringe inside the mindlink.
“Exactly what Elisa squealed. Now, have you decided on who will be on the council? Have you written anything to say in your speech,” Dad questioned.
“No, I don’t really write speeches, I just tend to wing it. It sounds bad, but you just wait and see. As for selecting people, I have selected six people, they just don’t know it yet,” Drake explained.
“Well, I will be giving my speech in about thirty minutes, so be ready,” Dad cut off the mindlink.
I let go of Drake’s hands and broke the connection. While we were mindlinking, I was still handing out timetables to the children. Drake really couldn’t pay attention to the children as mindlinking people and going about your day-to-day life can be a challenge, especially for someone who has never mind-linked anyone before. Drake was shocked and surprised about the whole thing. He looked at me, and asked, “That felt so weird, I could feel your father’s and your Lycan, as well as you both, inside my mind. I could hear what you were going to say in my head. It was so strange, but it felt strangely reassuring.”
“Well, I can mindlink you easily, but not all Lycans can mindlink those outside their species. It is something only my family can do. It can be overwhelming when you first mindlink, and the facial expressions are hard to control a bit at first, but you will learn to keep your expression blank when you mindlink,” I explained.
“I would love for you to keep training me. Maybe you can teach Kenneth too, it would be useful for him to have that talent too,” Drake smiled.
“I would be more than happy to teach you both, when we have some time to ourselves,” I smiled at him.
We finally finished handing out the timetables to all the children from the ages of three and eighteen. We were able to stand around and talk for a little bit. I was getting shattered. But I was eager to stay and listen to Drake's first speech here as King. I still couldn’t believe he was King; it was certainly a shock. I just wondered how he would be when he finds out what has happened to his parents. I mean, I didn’t even know and I honestly could feel that something bad was happening to them. It was a hard feeling to explain, but it was there nonetheless.
Everyone was finishing up with getting schedules and lists sorted, and thankfully that meant it would be time for Dad to give his speech and for Drake to give his. Everyone was still grouped together, speaking amongst themselves. Drake never left my side, which was really sweet, though some of the older dragons were staring at me. It made me wonder why. But I couldn’t ponder on the thought for long. It was time for Dad’s speech. My mother always stood by his side. She really showed me how to be a great Queen, even without teaching me how to be one.
Dad kept his speech about the rules and feast short and sweet, before he ushered Drake on to the stage. Drake, being Drake, took a deep breath and walked on stage with his head held high. He looked for regal, as he walked up on stage to speak to his people. I was eager to hear his speech, and listen to what he had to say. Even a little miss exhausted, Storm, perked up to listen to Drake’s speech.
