The Dragon Saviour

Chapter 1

Drake’s POV

It took about an hour to get to the other end of the tunnel. We all made it. The tunnel exit was open, just as I suspected, so I instructed my people to hang back, while I stepped closer to the exit, and called out, “King Robert?”

He immediately stepped into view, and smiled, “Drake, glad you could make it. Come on, let’s get you and your people to safety.”

“Let’s go, everyone, it’s safe,” I yelled back to my people.

They immediately began walking towards me, while I turned to climb out the exit. I took Robert’s arm, while I passed my bag to another Lycan, who was waiting to take it. I nodded, “Thank you for your help, King Robert.”

“Anything for my people, where are your parents,” he asked.

“They stayed behind, so I am now the King of dragons,” I stood tall, trying hard not to show the sadness I felt.

“Well, then King Drake, let’s get your people to safety,” he smiled.

We returned to the exit, and began helping my people out. We worked quickly to get them out. We instructed them to start walking down the isle that had been created by the three rows of Lycan warriors.

We had about three-quarters of my people out of the tunnel, when a Lycan warrior shouted, “In coming.”

I turned to the direction the Lycan warrior was looking in. There was a group of vampires in their bat forms, flying towards us. I kept helping my people, I needed to get them out of the tunnel and moving towards the Lycan territory. Fighting ensued behind me; the vampires were beginning to attack the Lycan lines.

Thankfully, it wasn’t many of them. But a single vampire broke through the Lycan lines, and tackled me, pinning me to the ground, trying to sink his teeth into my neck.

This little white Lycan came charging out of no where, and pounced on the vampire, knocking him off me. In an instant, I knew that beautiful white Lycan was Elisa. She sunk her teeth into the vampire’s neck, and ripped his head clean off.

Elisa, in her Lycan form, turned to look at me, her gleaming white fur was now covered in red blood, before bouncing over to me like a crazed puppy. Her Lycan rolled over me and licked my face, as I attempted to stand up. Her Lycan was adorable, and had the dragon eyes I saw years ago, though I couldn't recall her Lycan’s name.

The moment I did stand up though, Elisa shifted back into her human form, she was completely naked, my eyes widened and I gulped. She was slender, and was already developing across her chest. God, how was I going to control myself? This damn mate bond and teenage hormone, will be the death of me.

She flung her arms around me, pressing her head against my chest. She was taller than when I last saw her, but she was still shorter than me. My eyes darted around me, some people were staring, causing me to growl at them. I quickly pulled my t-shirt off myself, and forced it on to Elisa, before I returned her hug.

My t-shirt thankfully went down to her knees, covering her completely. At least she wasn’t naked anymore, and she was wearing my t-shirt. It made me smirk, I may not be able to claim her yet, but her wearing my t-shirt makes it feel like that all the more.

Great, now the teenage hormones are kicking. I took a few deep breathes, trying hard to fight back the burning feeling in my cheeks. Come on, concentrate. You have to lead your people to safety yet.

But being in her arms was the best thing in the world, right now. I was so happy that I was back with her.

Robert growled behind us, “Elisa, you should have shifted in private. You are a princess; a lot of people saw you naked. King Drake, thank you for giving your t-shirt to her.”

“Sorry, Daddy, I just wanted to give Drake a hug,” she gave the cutest little puppy dog eyes towards him, while her cheeks turned a bright red colour.

He shook his head, “Thank you, King Drake, for giving her your t-shirt.”

I cleared my throat, struggling to compose myself, “You don’t need to say thank you. It is the right thing to do. You also don’t need to call me King.”

“All your people are out of the tunnel, we should move. Quinn, send the truck off and gather the troops up at the rear,” Robert said.

“Yes, let’s go home,” Elisa giggled, pulling me along with her.

She kept her arms firmly wrapped around my waist; I had no choice but to wrap my left arm around her shoulder. We began to walk with Kenneth coming up behind us, and asking, “Is there anything you would like me to do, your majesty?”

“Yes, General Kenneth, take your three men, run the length of the line of our people, do a head count, check our people don’t need anything,” I ordered.

“Wait, King Drake, General Kenneth. When did the titles happen,” Elisa interrupted.

I nodded to Kenneth, and he nodded back before waving his three men to follow.

Kenneth and the men ran off, while I turned to face Elisa’s quizzical expression. I smiled, “My parents have stayed behind, so the moment I led my people through the tunnel, I took over as their King. General Fabian died over a year ago, Kenneth took over as General then. We are the youngest King and General to ever lead our people.”

“So, you are King of the dragons now,” she exclaimed.

“Yes, not the way I wanted to become King, but here we are,” I smiled.

“Well, I think you are being very responsible, considerate, and chivalrous,” Violet interjected, as she came to stand beside Robert, fully clothed.

“Thank you, Queen Violet,” I bowed my head to her.

We continued walking in silence for a short while, but I could not take it any longer, the silence was just too intense. I had questions that I needed to ask King Robert before we got to their land, so I wouldn’t be shocked when he told my people things.

So, I asked, “King Robert, I need to know everything you have planned to help my people get back to some normality.”

“I told your father once we don’t need to use titles, the same applies to you, it is just Robert to you. So, we have planned a lot of things for your people. I had the school principal arrange class schedules. He decided that it might be a good idea to mix Lycans with dragons for common subjects like maths, science and English, but he would like to speak with your school’s principal about any specific dragon-related lectures that need to be worked into the school timetables. I have arranged training schedules with Quinn and Charles. I will ask your people when we get to my land, if any of them over the age of sixteen would like to volunteer for patrol duty. If they do, they will be expected to come to the first training session so we can see if they are well trained enough to join our patrols. I have arranged for Doctor Brown, my pack doctor, to meet with your doctor and nursing team, with any of your wounded, and they will have jobs there. I think it would be ideal for them to train each other. That way, Lycans can treat dragons, and vice versus. Violet arranged tables full of things that you may need; food, toiletries, clothing, towels, etc. Your people will be able to grab anything they may need from there. My people have been building a cottage village for the last few years. There are about twenty cottages, each has four bedrooms, so if we need to double up the families within the houses, we may need to, until I can have more houses built, along with your palace. Until your palace is built, you will stay in the palace with us. I will also ask your people if they have any specific talents that they could use for a career. Like builders or chefs,” he explained.

“Wow,” I gasped.

Robert chuckled. I was a little stunned that there were a lot of things they had planned for our people, and I was grateful. They were even planning to build a palace for me, which would be for Kenneth and his family, as well as me and my family, which meant Elisa and our future children.

“Thank you for arranging all of that. I will make sure my people follow along with your pack rules, when it comes to being in your pack buildings,” I added.

He smiled, “Honestly, your people are my people, so I will do anything I can to help. If there is anything else I can do for your people, just let me know?”

“Thank you, once my people are settled in, I will have a sit down with them, and go over things, see if there is anything else they would like, see what else we can do to help your people,” I replied.

“You really are a great king, for one so young,” Violet complimented.

“He really is,” Elisa interjected, squeezing me tighter.

I couldn’t help but smile down at her, she really was the most beautiful creature I have ever seen. She was smiling up at me. I loved that smile. Her Lycan gazed through her eyes, with her eyes changing to the dragon eyes that her Lycan had.

“What is your Lycan called,” I asked.

“Her name is Storm,” she giggled.

“Well, considering how fast she charged in and destroyed that vampire, I think Storm is a suitable name for your Lycan.”

“What is your dragon’s name?”

“Our dragons have the same names as us. So, my dragon is called Drake, just like me.”

After that, there was a silence among us for quite a while. It wasn’t that we didn’t have plenty to catch up on and discuss, but we really should have been looking out for our people for the moment, so that is what we did.

We still had about an hour before we would arrive at the Lycan palace, which would be where we would sort out everything for everyone. I wondered where my room would be in the Lycan palace. If it was the same as last time, then it would be right next to Elisa’s bedroom.

Kenneth fell back at one point, to let me know that everyone was alright, before he headed forwards to help an elderly couple. Luckily, we had absolutely no attacks or sightings of any vampires on our way to the Lycan territory. There was just one question that remained, and I hoped that Robert would be as eager to find out what happened as I was. I need to know what is happening to my parents and the ten who stayed behind.

I feel like Robert knew I wanted to know, because on our trip to the Lycan land, I kept turning around to look back in the direction of the dragon palace. He nodded at me, as if to say that he would send some people to find out what happened when they are back at the Lycan palace.
