We all need a friend

Olivia’s POV Three days later After class finished, I made my way out of the class going to the admission block so that I could get the time tables from her. I was there for the past two days and she was always saying they are not yet ready. I got everything that I need and made my way to the locker she had just given me keys to. I just the locker nicely wondering if my bag could fit in there. I was told I had to remain for afternoon lessons because I had just failed to answer three questions from my teacher. I walked back in the class and found the boy from earlier and he was busy chatting with some friends “Well, look who just came back here?”  He said to me as I moved to my desk without answering him. “Ethan, will you leave her alone?”  Mrs. Mendes Said to him, I focused my eyes on the board as she began teaching. “What do you think is the formula?”  The girl who helped me earlier leaned over the desk poking my back as I took a deep breath shaking my head. She moved back and I focused on the board as Mrs. Mendes taught algebra. I always hated this topic whenever I was in my math class. I quickly worked on the ten questions she had for us and went to give her. I stood there waiting for her to mark my answers so that I could leave. She marked everything then gave me my book back. Without wasting time, I packed my things and walked out of the classroom/. “Hey wait!”  I heard the girl's voice behind me as I walked past all these people in the hallway. “Hey, Olivia,” She said to me after I finally reached the locker where I had put my bag “Sorry I never gave you my name. My name is Kim” She said to me but I wasn’t interested in knowing what her name was or getting closer to her. “I noticed that you are good in Science but math…”  she wanted to say but I just closed the locker and started walking away with answering her. I heard her cuss behind me and I made my way out of the building going to the spot where I had agreed to be meeting with the driver. “Hey Horse face?” I heard the boy from earlier calling me as I rolled my eyes walking past him. I didn’t have any business with him so I didn’t have to answer him Before I even reached very far someone brought out their leg and I was so careless that I didn’t see it and ended up tripping over. “Ouch!”  I winced in pain as I picked up my books. “Oh, did you fall?”  He questioned me as I clenched my jaws not wanting to respond, he and his friends began laughing. I grabbed my things and before I could pick them up entirely, he stepped on my hand. “Let me go!” I pushed his leg away and his friends were busy laughing. “Never ignore me when I am calling you do you understand me?”  He bent down as he questioned me. I took a deep breath not wanting to respond to him. “Let her go!”  I heard Kim’s voice shouting as she walked towards us, I lifted my eyes to look at her as Ethan just chuckled. “Ethan let her go! What’s wrong with you? Why do you have to treat her like this” she pushed him away from me as I picked up my books wanting to leave. I quickly rushed out of there going to the car where the driver had just pulled over. “Olivia!”  She shouted after me and I ignored me. “What?”  I snapped after she had called me for the fifth time. “Wow! You are really ungrateful” She stopped in her tracks as I laughed. “I didn’t ask you to help me, why did you do that? Why do you keep helping me?” I questioned her and she scoffed folding her arms. “You don’t even know me,” I said to her and she moved closer to me. “Yes, I don’t know you but that doesn’t mean I can’t help you. Please Ethan can be a bit annoying” She said to me as I swallowed hard. “I just want to be friends with you okay? Nothing more” She said to me and I sighed as I looked at her. She had no reason to push for me and her to be friends but she did. “Just stay away from me,” I said to her as I went to get in the car. I threw my bag in and started looking out the window. I hated this school already It just wasn’t meant for me. I even missed being at my old school. “Who’s that young lady?”  Jeff the driver asked me as I took a deep breath looking out the window “You know that everyone needs someone to talk to, right?” He questioned me as I closed my eyes briefly. “you know back when I was about your age…”  he started talking about his high school days but I acted like I wasn’t listening. No one was going to make me change my mind about this horrible place. He pulled over in the yard and I got out of the quickly wanting to walk away but he called me back. “Make some friends you will see they come in handy when you are very low in life,”  he said to me as I nodded my head before going inside the house. I went straight to my room so that I could avoid talking to anyone. I looked at my hand and it had a bruise from earlier, I sighed heavily going to change into something comfortable so that I could start studying. “How was school?”  Aunt Rita walked into my room as I changed in my closet. “It was okay,” I responded with a flat voice barely audible “That’s great, I will be going shopping later. Do you want to come with me?”  She asked me as I walked out of my closet. “What do you think?”  she asked me, I found she had put my things nicely on my dressing mirror just like my mother used to. “Okay” I replied “Great, you will find me downstairs after you are ready,” She said as she smiled at me before walking out of the room. I sighed heavily going to pick my bag from the table she had put it on.
