She knew she had messed up. “And you ask me why I don’t befriend you?” I hissed, hastily leaving for my room to wait for my brother’s arrival. I needed to tell him what happened on the mountains and also inform him that Garlin had read the letter. Somewhere deep down, I felt so guilty that I hoped somehow this mess would be resolved. If Garlin used this letter to punish my brother, I would be responsible for it. Why on earth did I hold the letter in my hand like an i***t? Why couldn’t I think clearly in that moment?
