Episode 30: Shadows at the Perimeter

203 Words
The pack’s patrols reported increased rogue wolf activity near the northern boundary. Marcus and Harper pored over maps with Damian. “They’re testing our response time,” Marcus said. Aelin insisted on joining the next patrol. At dusk, she ran with a team through thick underbrush, senses on high alert. A rustle to the left signaled movement; she rolled just as a mottled wolf lunged. Her blade flashed, glinting under moonlight. The rogue’s eyes burned amber—controlled by something darker. After neutralizing the threat, Marcus examined the fallen wolf and found a tiny black shard embedded in its paw. “Dark magic,” he murmured. “Someone is controlling rogues from afar.” The revelation sent a chill through the group. Aelin’s mind raced. Who could wield such power? Victor didn’t have witches on his side… but someone else might. As they carried the fallen wolf back for study, Aelin couldn't shake the haunting image of amber eyes clouded by another's will. The forest seemed to whisper warnings through the pines. Back in the barracks, she scribbled notes, determined to track patterns in the attacks. This threat required more than brute force; it demanded insight, resourcefulness, and unbreakable trust among them all.
