Things we do for our friends

So I left you with the introduction of my two very different protagonists, Anna and Daniel Smith. Furthermore, you also got a glimpse into the life of Anna. Now, I will leave you with Daniel Smith and his best friend. Before, I leave you I must also inform you that Daniel Smith has always been close to his best friend Adam. Their friendship started 6 years ago when they met for the first time in a fraternity club at Harvard. Where Adam was studying law while Daniel was doing MBA. They hit it off from the first moment they met, as their opinions were in total sync. They both loved football and supported the same team. They even had similar political and social views. Their friendship is really exemplary, that once Daniel was jumped on by a couple of thugs in the parking lot of his club. The situation got out of hand and one of the goons fired a shot at Daniel. Adam, who was accompanying Daniel, pushed him from the line of fire and took the bullet. Luckily the bullet barely scratched Adam's arm and no critical injury was done. That day was a new milestone for their friendship. Daniel felt like he owed his life to Adam, thus he could do anything for him. Adam turned into a family member for Daniel. Daniel shared all his secrets with Adam. Adam also started to come to Daniel with all his problems. It 

1st January 2020

I had just come back to New York after a hectic meeting with the management of my hotel in LA. When I received a call from Adam who sounded really depressed on the phone thus I asked him to meet me at Rose club. When we reached there I could see he had not shaved in a while and had been crying for some time.

"What happened man? You look like you are going to drop any moment or worse yet. You might have another crying spell" Daniel asked Adam once he realized Adam is not gonna tell him anything by himself.

"Sam... sniff sniff  We... sniff sniff I was going to... sniff... propose to him. " Adam said and started crying.

"And?" Daniel provoked him to continue.

"I cut back my Europe trip by a week to surprise him... sniff... We had been dating for 3 years... sniff It was our effing anniversary. I opened my apartment and without making any noise entered the bedroom... to to find him in our bed with with.... an effing girl. Can you believe a girl?" By the time Adam finished his crying had subdued into anger.

"I still remember when we started dating I specifically asked him, whether this was just a phase?.... sniff... that bastard said he was as gay as they come." He started crying again.

"Didn't you guys have a huge fight about him checking out a girl at my Halloween party?" Daniel said recalling the events of last year's Halloween party. 

"You know after I left your house, we had this huge discussion on bisexuality and I specifically remember asking him about his sexuality and he told me he was gay and the thought of girls repulsed him to the core." Daniel was shocked to know Adam was so clueless about Sam being bisexual. Daniel had seen Samual checking out his female friends during many of his parties. Once, Daniel also came across Samual making out with Dina in his bedroom. When he confronted him about it, he claimed it was a drunken mistake. He even pleaded to not tell Adam about it and promised it will never happen again. Now Daniel was pissed too.

"To think I was going to propose to him... he he slept with a girl... not any girl but my my good for nothing f@#$ing secretary... and that too on our 3rd anniversary" His anger turned into a sob. Daniel had never seen Adam so broken before so he had no idea how to deal with it or what to say.

"If you ask me, everything happens for a reason. Thank God you found out about that wh@re before proposing. Thank got you didn't marry him. At least now you don't have to go through the hassle of the court to dump his a$$." Daniel tried to make him see the positive of this situation. Daniel had seen his share of money-hungry, cheating, and manipulative women and men. He tried to avoid commitments as if his life depended on it. Well, his wallet did actually depend on it. He didn't want to be shackled to one woman or give alimony. This was one of the reasons that he had been single for all of his 29 years. He had dated multiple women but he had never been autonomous with anyone till Stella but that didn't turn out as he wanted.

"It's not just that he cheated but it hurts more to know that he cheated on me with a woman and that too my secretary" Adam cried again. Daniel couldn't take it anymore so he thought to order some drinks to distract him and take his mind off that b@$tard. 

"Now I had to fire her too. That b!t$h had the audacity to apologize to me after I caught her with my boyfriend" Adam said kicking the table.

He signaled the waiter to take their order for some really hardcore drinks. Once the drinks arrived in their VIP lounge, they dived right in without wasting any time. That was until the song changed and it was like something switched in Adam. Who, was just now starting to forget about his cheating boyfriend and get consumed by alcohol.
