The atmosphere inside Purple Constructions was one of controlled urgency. The much-anticipated product launch, marking the company’s bold expansion into real estate, was only hours away. Every department was on edge. A single mistake could ripple through investors, partners, and the media. Samantha arrived earlier than usual that morning. She had barely slept, her mind replaying Romanda’s words from the day before. Keep this up. She intended to. She reviewed the launch checklist meticulously, including presentations, press kits, contracts, seating arrangements, and media confirmations. Something felt off. She frowned. The digital brochure listed outdated pricing. “If this goes out,” she whispered, “it’ll cause chaos.” She immediately cross-checked the approval chain. The updated figures had been approved late the previous night—but the final version hadn’t been uploaded to the media drive. Samantha didn’t panic. She corrected the document, highlighted the changes, and sent a concise email to HR, Marketing, and the Executive Support Desk, clearly stating what had been updated and why. She then printed revised copies and personally ensured the event coordinators replaced the old ones. No noise. No drama. His presence alone commanded silence, tailored suit, sharp eyes, authority woven effortlessly into his posture. “Sir,” a marketing executive said nervously, “there was almost an issue with the pricing brochure, but it’s been resolved.” Chris looked up. “Almost?” “Yes. An intern caught it before distribution.” Chris paused. Again. “Name?” “Samantha Roles, sir.” Chris leaned back slightly. “That’s twice in two days.” Cliff, standing near the door, allowed himself the faintest smirk.The Launch Begins as the hall is filled with investors, partners, journalists, and senior executives. The lighting was perfect. The displays gleamed. Everything moved like clockwork. Samantha stood quietly at the side, headset on, coordinating movements, passing information discreetly, solving small issues before they became visible. A journalist complained about seating, so she fixed it. A projector lagged, she redirected to a backup. A speaker arrived late, she adjusted the sequence seamlessly. No one noticed her. Which meant she was doing everythingand right. From the stage, Chris delivered his speech with calm authority. As he spoke about growth, vision, and integrity, his eyes briefly scanned the hall. They landed on Samantha, standing poised, focused, unshaken amid the controlled chaos. Something shifted. She wasn’t seeking attention. She wasn’t flustered. She was anchoring the entire operation quietly. After thunderous applause, the launch concluded flawlessly.As the launching proceeded with hiccups as guests mingled, Chris turned to Romanda. “Who is she?” he asked casually, though his tone carried weight. Romanda followed his gaze and smiled knowingly. “Samantha Roles. New intern.” Chris nodded. “I want her resume. Full profile. On my desk by Monday.” Romanda raised an eyebrow. “Noted.” From across the room, Bridget watched the exchange, and saw everything. She saw Romanda nod. She saw Chris’s attention linger. seeing as Samantha smile politely as she assisted another executive. Bridget’s jaw tightened. This intern is becoming a problem. the event wrapped up, Bridget cornered Samantha near the exit. “Don’t get too comfortable,” Bridget said sweetly, her eyes cold. “Men like Chris Chase don’t notice nobodies for long.” Samantha met her gaze calmly. “I’m just here to do my job.” Bridget leaned closer. “That’s what they all say.” Samantha said nothing. She simply walked away. From a distance, Cliff observed the exchange carefully.
