“Finally, you came.” Mika said as she greeted me as she opens the door after I rang it a few times over.

“Where is the guard?” I said as I did not see Jayson, the most trusted guard of my brother in front of the door, the only entrance in this big metal house, I call it metal as it is really built with metal in the outside and a thick wall in the inside.

“Oh, he just went in to take a pee. Here he is.” Mika said as she pointed to this bulky young man who is really good looking, well at least to me.

“Good evening Ms. Stevens.” Jayson said as he walks towards us as we stay still in front of the door.

“Good evening Jayson.” I simply said when he passes by.

“I did not leave the front unattended, did I?” he said before closing the door he just opened.

“No, Mark was there at your post.” I said with a smile, answering to him even though it feels like he is making sure that I know that he did not leave the front unattended when he needed to go to the comfort room and after hearing that assures him that I know, he now shut the door completely.

“That poor man, he would only call Jayson when he needed a necessary breaks like eating, peeing…” Mika said and was cut off by a furious voice.

“And poo!” It is Ryu’s voice who came from the kitchen, just finished his dinner wearing the expression in a position I was hoping he would.

I stare at him for a good amount of time before I run towards him, take him into my arms and pulls him up into a hug before I shower him with kisses that his mad face turned into laughing one until his face turns red that it so red, that I had to stop which made me get face to face with him while he still tries his best to frown and pout and said “Why are you so late? You did not only had dinner with us but also did not make it until we are done.” He said in between his cute pouts, cute enough to make me feel the urge to sinfully thinking to bite those lips.

“Mommy Cath is so sorry enough bring these bags of candies and toys for you.” Mika said interrupting us.

Ryu look at her like for a moment before he looks at me and said “Are you really sorry?” I wanted to laugh seeing how cute he is even though he is frustrated enough to make his eyebrows be closer than they should be on top of his eyes but I try to hold it all in and said “Yes. I am really sorry, but it is just that…” before tightly bit my lip and pause for a good amount of time.

“But what?” he said being impatient.

I keep staring at his as his face gets longer and longer until it is long enough for me to let out my loud laugh and said “But, half of me is not sorry since I get to see your mad face that is so cute and that I miss so much, so now, instead of being sorry, I could not help but to feel in fact happy. So happy that I get to see it as soon as I came in.” while watching how he would react to what I just said.

He looks at me, straight into my eyes with his narrow eyes which is slowly turning big as they could before he exclaimed and said “What? So, instead of feeling sorry? You are being mean?” as we walk towards the kitchen where I put down the box of donut which has been sitting in my hand.

I sat down on one of the chairs and put Ryu on the table, making him sit there. I do know that it is a bad manner. But Ryu is a smart kid, he knows that what I did is bad and he knows I have a reason of doing that and even though he did not ask, I am sure he will know soon. I look at him as he came on the same level, his eye sight and mine as we look at each other with my arms on his back, surrounds him so he would not fall on his back. I look at him straight and said “That is not being mean, I guess you can just say that I love you so much and so I miss you so much and so why I did that. I just miss you so much that as soon as you came to me looking so mad and frustrated to me all the stress, tiredness and even the fatigue that I had from work and driving two straight long hours were all swept away from that mad cute face of yours. And the one hour of standing their lining up for these was nothing because I know that at the moment, I open this and eat them all with you, you will not ne mad anymore.” As I open the box of donuts while he watches me while stays quiet.

“So, you did not feel that way because you are mean because you do not like me anymore?” he said pouting with a puppy eyes, they called it, his eyes getting a little wet.

“Not like you anymore? I would not like your father and mother but not you. Not liking you will be the second to the last thing I would until I die.” I said as I put one of his favorite flavors in between of the folded tissue before I faced him again.

“Second? What is the last one?” he said not shifting his gaze on me since we came here to sit.

“Well, the last thing would be not loving you. I love you more than I love your father.” I said as I handed him his donut which he took into his hand and do one thing for me as well.

“More than Uncle Henry?” he suddenly said when I was about to take a bite of my dark chocolate donut.

“Where did you heard that name?” I exclaimed.

“I heard dad talking with mom that your first love has found you who felt and seems to be still feeling the same way towards you. I do not know what it means to be feeling the same way, but since dad mentioned that Uncle Henry is your first love, I guess you loved him and even might still love him.” He said pouting neglecting his donut which he used to take a bit as soon as I open the box. I guess that is just how much he is curious of the things he just asked.

“No, I still love you more than anyone, anybody else. It is only you that I love this much, to the moon and back.” I said kissing his nose after taking a full bite of his donut that made me guess were are done talking and it is finally time to devour these donuts before his brushing teeth time comes.

I look at Mika who has been standing behind him all this time, she looks at me looking so sorry. I shake my head a little and smile. It is not like it is a fault of the parents to have a child just like this one I am busy wiping the messy face he got from devouring the donuts with me. In fact, it is a luck, aside from the genes that others did not let to wonder since they are both successful in their careers, until my sister-in-law got her miscarriage and was forced by her parents to quit her job. Having Ryu born was the best thing that happened to them but also a fear has always have been with them, making the reason of his annual checkups, almost none of going out and guards even to school. He almost did not make it as my brother made up his mind that he will be home schooling him. Ryu has been special. After his first child that was not really meant to have but still they choose to get steady with their relationship which I only found out yesterday from my session and when the miscarriage happened, they parted away as Mika could not handle the stress she is having as she was so afraid of her parents knowing that she got pregnant by accident.

“Is that yummy dear?” Mika said as she come over to us and takes one as well.

“They are mom, mommy Cath knows how to choose. You did great, taking one.” Ryu said to his mother with a smile on his face while chewing what he has in his mouth.

“OF course, she would be. She chose them carefully, thinking about you that she loves the most. Is that not right mommy Cath?” Mika said while she is also become busy taking bites.

I chuckle to the sight of mother and son in front of me with their faces so messy. I stare at them, one at a time and said “Well, of course. Everyone wants what is the best for the most beloved ones.” In response to Mika.

“Then I hope, Uncle Henry will do anything, everything he can to make you happy.” Ryu said before he leaned forwards and kissed my forehead with his lips covered in confectioner’s sugar. But it is not the reason why I am looking at him surprise. It is because of the words he just said.

“Why would you say that?” I said in wonder to him.

“Why? Because daddy said that Uncle Henry wants to take you back and this time, he would make sure that you are being treasured enough while being the happiest girl. So, I just thought that if this Uncle Henry will be doing his best to do that, then I guess I want him for you.” Ryu said cupping my cheek with his clean little hand while looking straight into my eyes.

I hold his hand and kiss it before I smile a little bit and said “Do you want to meet Uncle Henry then?” which he looked at me so excited.

“Really? Will I get to meet him?” he said that feels like he is trying me to assure him that he will.

I smiled to him and said “You will, tomorrow, and I bet you will be surprised who he is.” I said remembering that they have met already. On my first day of work when he got lost.

Mika looks at me surprised and eyes me, asking me if they have met already. I smiled to her in answer which she also smiles excitedly and said “You should not get too excited or else you would not be able to sleep well and wake up early.”

“Is it not good if I wake up late?” Ryu said in wonder.

“You see mommy Cath needs to go and return tomorrow early because she will be going to work.” Mika said in response. I just watch them talking while wearing a smile on my face.

“So, Uncle Henry is working at with you, so he is also a doctor or a nurse?” Ryu said taking note of something I and Mika did not expect. “He is right? A doctor?” he added.

“Why do you not just see it for yourself? See if he is wearing a white lab coat or not.” I said.

“I bet he is since daddy will not leave you in someone’s hand if he is not worthy of you. And if we talk about worthy, he should be a rich man or someone at your level, but seems that he is working with you, I bet he is a doctor and a very good one.” Ryu said that surprised as even more.

“Why are you so smart?” I said pinching his small pointed nose that he got from his father.

“I do not know. But I want to be like you guys when I grow up.” He said that once again surprised us.

“Which one do you want to be when you grow up?” Mika said.

“Everyone, being the best at what I do. Dad being a businessman whom everyone admires and envies, Mom that is best being a businesswoman that every businessman wants to marry and you.” He said cupping both my cheeks after wiping his dirty hand with the tissue beside him. “Best in savings everyone’s heart.” He added.

I want to cry out of happiness but I chose not to when I see Mika rubbing his back already tearing and so I just said “Then at which do you want to be the best?”

“I want to make the best places for the best people.” He said.

If we talked about making places, then that means he wants to be the best engineer, a civil engineer building houses and any kind of structure that could shed people. It makes me happy, that in his age, he has such kind of dream which very rare with kids in his age. Making me already so proud of him and knowing that it would not be difficult for him since he is smart enough to think of it in this way.

“Then, why do we not go brush our teeth, so we could get to bed early and so you could grow up faster and make that dream come true?” I said standing up seeing that is almost time for his bed.

He stretched his arms to me, asking me to carry him which I am glad to do so, so I pick him up into my arms and said “You are the best baby for us, do you know that?” as we walk towards his room after getting the nod from his mom who seems to be willing to clean up the mess, we three made.

“I know, because I have the best people in the whole universe.” He said and hug me as tight as he could and kiss me on my cheek.

Only God knows how lucky we feel that we have him, that we have a baby called Ryu who is so kindhearted, sweet and loving. He knows because we never forgot to thank him for giving him to us. And that is why we are returning the favor by loving him and protecting him in the best we can by doing our best.

“You have it in contrary, we have the best you that is why we became the best just for you.” I said kissing him back and patting his back softly.

“Mommy Cath, I want a baby girl cousin from you. When can I have her?” he suddenly said out of the blue.

It made me feel somehow sad, does he feel alone? I could not blame his parents for being scared of having another after what they have gone through. “Well, if I meet the best man for me then I guess I could give you one.” Are the words I chose to say.

“Best for you? Like mom is the best for dad and dad for mom?” he said back.

“Well, yes. See the have you because they feel best for each other.” I said as we enter his bathroom where I made him sad on the sink while I take his toothbrush and put toothpaste on it getting ready for our brushing teeth session. I have my own toothbrush in his bathroom since this is not the first time I have sleep over and take him to do his before bed routine.

“Oh. I guess that is true. But I really want to have you the best things that life could give you.” He said looking into my eyes before he takes his toothbrush from my hand and started rubbing it against his teeth like he did not say something unexpected while he left me with mouth open, that I did not notice I was drooling because of the toothbrush in my open mouth.
