His Memories of Her

Henry runs without looking back to the girl he just left, he runs for someone’s life as he receives a 911 page that meant to be in urgence of emergency and he knows that he will not see anything good if that is what he receives.

“What will we be having?” henry said towards the emergency desk in the emergency room where he was called from.

“Head-to-head collision.” The doctor in charge of emergency room replied and handed him a chart containing the all the information of the victim from rescuers.

Having this kind of system is just so great. The details about the victims and their situations being forwarded as soon as the rescuers just got a hold of everything and keeps on updating in any changes that would happen as they heads towards you giving you time too prepare for everything that would be needed for the victim. It makes it easier for everyone and to top it all for the doctors to be accurate for everything they should do.

Henry stood outside in front of the door waiting for the ambulance to arrive which is loaded with the patient who has multiple issue that almost the heads of all departments is being called aside from someone whom he felt thankful for not being present with them.

“Wang… wang…” soon the sound the ambulance is making becomes clearer and louder making everyone knows that it is near to them making them stood firmly as they wait it to be visible into them which did not take that long as it came into halt in front of him and to the other doctors and even the intern doctors and the rescuer climb down of it and opened the door as quick as he could. It is not new to everyone aside from the interns who just came yesterday to start their intern duties. And so as soon as the door open up everyone was taken by surprise by the sight that came into their view. Although it is everyone, it was most the doctors and on top of them is Henry whose face really turned into something indescribable as his eyes opened up as wide as they could, his lips that slowly parted a part and gets bigger and bigger into a big o shape and kept it as his breath started to fade feeling a blockage in his esophagus all the way into his throat as he keeps his gaze into what is in his view while something certainly going on in his mind.

Henry’s Flashback

It was just such a good day to fool around once again just like yesterday and the day before that and even the day before that and so on and so forth and one thing is also so sure, that it will be the same tomorrow and the day after and after. And that is what is going on Henry’s mind every morning that he goes out for school or so his parents thought because the fact that he swings to that billiard shop behind the school is the only thing he has been doing since last month where all the things around him started to get messed up.

“You are here again?” the man who seems to own the billiard shop told him as soon as he entered.

“Yeah.” Henry said putting down his clutch bag on one of the stalls in front of the bar counter.

“Uncle, I will be going now.” A girl said who came out from the other door aside from the entrance to the shop and the one for the comfort room for public customers.

“Ok, take care!” the man said towards the girl who seems to be at the same age as Henry.

“Take care!” Henry said towards the same girl in somehow joking tone.

The girl glared at him that he just smiled while the owner of the billiard shop just looks at him in somewhat amusement and so he said “What?” towards the man when the girl vanishes from his sight.

“You should think twice before picking my niece, she would eat you up alive.” The man said towards Henry that he looks at him lost.

“Pick? What do you mean?” Henry said in confusion.

“You have been here for a month already son, every morning you always do the same thing towards my niece but as soon as she glares at you shut yourself and just look at her, at first you were scared, but at some point, it stopped and turn into smiles. And by my own experience that only mean one thing, you are interested at her and as her uncle, knowing my niece for ten years, I have to warn you that if you will pick her, be prepared to be eaten and most of all, you need to straighten up yourself son.” The man replied putting down the bottle which he took as he cleans up the place.

Henry who looked at him blankly as he helps him clean the place while thinking about what the man just told him while collecting all the trash around until he stops and said “If you are telling me that I like your niece, I am not sure about that but to straighten myself up, is something not really in my mind right now.”

The man looks at him, sighs and said “I did not say anything since the first time you came since you look so troubled at that time, more than you do right now. But I have been watching you everyday from morning when you come and at night when you go and I know you have troubles behind you and I did not want to intrude just because I am intrigued but I grew concerned to you. One thing I am sure of is that you are not troubled because of money, you are obviously a rick kid just by knowing how you treat your friends who comes after school from the moment they enter and the moment they leave, it is not about school because you still do your homework it is just that you do it here instead at home giving me the thought that your problem lies at home as it feels like you really do not want to stay there more than you needed for a sleep and shower.” The man said.

“Well, I found out one month ago, my parents are both cheating on each other.” Henry said with a fake smile and a soundful chuckle like he is hiding something behind that smile and chuckle.
