Alexs POV
I called the PI that Kane had the next day and got everything in place for them to start following Tinlee around. I felt so guilty about this, but I knew deep down that something weird was going on. I haven’t really talked to her much since that night I was supposed to take her out and it didn’t happen. She seemed content to live like this, but I wasn’t. I wanted my mate; I wanted pups, and I wanted to do everything that we are supposed to be doing as a couple.
I had a meeting in three days with the Alpha of the Grey Moon pack. He wanted an alliance. I was reviewing the paperwork when my phone rang. I looked at the caller ID and saw that it was Mason, the PI that I hired to follow Tinlee.
“Hey Mason. Whats going on?”
“I am sitting outside a diner and she is inside eating with a man and woman. They are across from her and I am not honestly sure what the take is on it.”
“Can you send me pictures of them, please?”
“Sure thing. They are on their way.”
My phone pinged with a text message. I pulled my phone away and looked at the picture and I wasn’t sure who it was, but the women looked like her. It could be her mother, but they weren’t supposed to have any contact.
“Thanks Mason. Keep following her for me, while I look into these people a little more.”
I hung up the phone and stared at the picture more. It had to be her mother. They looked identical. I closed out of the picture and called Kane.
“Hey man, what’s up?”
“Any chance there are any pictures of Tinlee’s biological mom at that pack house somewhere?”
“I don’t know. Why do you ask?”
“I think that is who she is meeting with.”
“They both know that is not allowed.”
“Ya, well, it doesn’t stop them.”
“You need to tell dad and mom and about this.”
“I know and I will, but first I need to confirm that it is her mom.”
“I am looking. You know her mom was an original pack member there. Look through your database.”
I pulled up my computer and database that we had turned all the files into electronic ones and search her name. I only knew her first name and so I had to go through a few, but I found her at the same time that Kane did.
“Got it and sending it now,” Kane said.
“No need. I found it as well, and it’s her.”
“s**t. OK, go talk to mom and dad and let me know what they say.”
“Will do.”
I hung up the phone with him and just stared at the picture. How could she do this? She has known her whole life that she was adopted and what her mother did. For some reason, my mother spared her life under certain conditions. Those conditions are no longer being met and I wonder how long they have been meeting. I don’t know how long I sat in my office chair before I got up to go find my parents and tell them what was going on and figure out what to do. I opened my office door when Tinlee stepped inside.
“Hey baby, where are you going?” she asked me.
“I was going to talk with my dad. Where have you been?”
“I have been around. Hey can we go for a walk? I want to talk to you.”
“I don’t think right now is a good time.”
“OK, I just wanted to apologize for the way I have been acting lately.” She said with tears in her eyes. She knew her tears always got to me.
“OK, fine.”
She grabbed my hand, and we walked outside. She started walking out into the forest.
“Where are we going Tin?” I asked her.
“Come on, just a little further. I have a surprise for you.”
We walked a little further, and she had a picnic set up for us.
“Did you do this?” I asked her because this was not her normal.
“Yes, I know how much you love to be outside and, well, you give so much to me. I wanted to do this for you.”
I turned and pulled her to me and kissed her gently on the lips.
“Come, let’s eat,” she said as she pulled away.
We went and sat down on the blanket that she had set up. I pulled her between my legs and she laid back against me. I started running my hands up and down her arms and leaned in and kissed her neck.
“Baby, we can’t do that out here.”
“Why not? No one is out here, and we don’t have s*x very often. Come on Tin.”
“No, just stop and enjoy the food.”
I stopped what I was doing and pulled some food out of the basket. She fixed our plates, and she had my favorite. Fried chicken and potatoes. She then poured us both a glass of wine. I started eating while she just watched me.
“Are you not eating?” I asked her.
“I will. I was just watching you enjoy your food.”
“It is good.” I told her and inhaled everything in front of me and by the time I took my last bite, I felt a little weird. My head was fuzzy feeling.
“Tinlee, why do I feel weird?”
“I don’t know what you're talking about.”
“Did you do something to my food? I ate all of mine and you didn’t eat any of yours.”
“I am sorry, but I had to.” She said as I watched her and I started seeing double.
“Tinlee, what is going on?”
“Just relax and it will all make sense later.”
I was swaying and barely able to hold myself up in a sitting position. She pushed on my chest and I fell, so I was lying on my back. I heard some people come walking over. I could hear them talking, but couldn’t make out what they were saying. I tried to yell out to Tinlee, but nothing came out and blackness filled my vision.
I woke up on a concrete floor with my hands tied behind my back, shackled together with something that is silver. I tried to reach out to my Titan, but he wasn’t there. I tried to call out for Tinlee but my throat was dry no sound came out. I had to know if she was ok or not. I tried to stand up but swayed as soon as I was on my knees. My feet were also shackled with silver. I sat back down, leaning against the cool concrete wall, trying to get the dizziness to pass. I don’t know how long I sat there when I heard someone come down the stairs and stand right in front of my cell.
“Here,” said a man and tossed a water bottle to me. I rolled to my feet, but with my hands behind my back, it did me no good.
“Where is Tinlee?” I asked him, but it was barely a whisper.
He just laughed and walked away. This was just great. He wouldn’t even tell me where my mate was. I wanted a drink of that water so badly but couldn’t do anything because of my arms behind my back and I had no clue how long I have been down here.
It wasn’t long, and I heard someone else coming down here. This had to be a woman. The foot steps were too light to be a mans. It didn’t take long for me to find out I was right. A young girl who couldn’t have been older than sixteen comes down the steps. She is dressed in rags and looks like she doesn’t eat enough. She unlocks my cell and comes in and picks up the water and opens it up and brings it to my lips. I drink down most of the bottle and then I notice she has a brown bag of something.
“What is your name?” I ask her, but she doesn’t even look at me. She opens the bag and pulls out a sandwich and brings it to my lips. She feeds me the entire thing and to be honest, at this point, it was the best damn thing I’ve ever had. I must have been down here longer than I thought.
“Thank you,” I tell her, but she still doesn’t even look at me.
“Where am I?” I ask her, but again, nothing.
She brings the water bottle up to my lips and I drink the last of what is in there. She then picks up all the garbage and leaves my cell and locks the door.
“Wait,” I yell to her, but she leaves, never even looking at me. She makes her way back up the stairs and shuts the door. The only sliver of light coming through the bottom of the door.
I try to focus on the people walking around upstairs. I am trying to get a count on how many are here. I seem to be the only down here right now, but I can hear four or five different people walking around up there. I laid there for what felt like hours, listening to people move around until I finally fell asleep.
Time blurred, and I was confused and didn’t know how long it had been since that girl came down, but the door opened and I heard her light footsteps. She opened my cell, and I sat up. She opened another water bottle and brought it to my lips. I drank it down again, finishing most of it off. She again had a brown paper bag and opened it up and pulled out another sandwich. I knew what they were doing. It’s a form of torture. Cut everything off and only give you enough food and water to keep you alive. Well, it was working because I was going crazy. I needed someone to talk to. I needed to get out of here.
“Are you here on your own free will?” I asked the girl, giving me my sandwich.
She just looked at me with sad eyes and I knew right there that she wasn’t. She was just as much a prisoner here as I was.
“We can help each other and get out of here,” I tried telling her, but the look on her face told me that she wouldn’t be doing anything. She was scared.
“Can you tell me if my mate is OK? Her name is Tinlee?” I asked her, but her face held that of fear when I said her name.
What has Tinlee done? Is she in on this or is she being blackmailed, maybe?
The girl finished feeding me and gave me the last of my water and then left my cell, locking it and going back up the stairs and closing in the dark.
