36 Burke saw her out of the corner of his eye from the line at the donut shop. By the time he’d hobbled over to his seat with his coffee and Boston Cream, she was in plain sight. He took a bite of his treat and a little custard squeezed out onto his fingers. He licked them clean and watched her through the windows. An exhibit in an urban zoo.
