Chapter five...

He had lodged ,leaving her to fend for herself that night . She had slept in the stable with the horses. Giving thanks that at least she had hope for the next few months of her life. Until She’d been able to think of a plan .

Early the next morning the stable hands has woken her up to begin clearing out the place and walk the horses . She had to enter the inn and sat in a table waiting for her new owner. She made sure to stay hidden to avoid any other surprises . She kept looking at the wall clock . Wondering why he’s taking time to come down.

It was about 8:35 before he finally came down. She could see him from her position. He went straight to the man and they exchanged an unheard discussion after which he went to sit down. Soon the maid that served her yesterday brought him food to which he ate quietly. From where she was sitting She. was salivating for the food wishing she could have some. The aroma of the food alone was mouthwatering. She kept swallowing her spit trying to quench her hunger . After eating ,he had left the table and climbed back up. She waited awhile to see if the maid would return but she didn’t. She snuck out of her hiding place and went to the table he just left and sat down. Luckily there were leftovers so she immediately dug in and ate up everything . She was so hungry she ignored the look of the man from the desk. After eating, She drank the water he remained ,and belched out loud. She sat for awhile and stood ,going back to her former position....It wasn’t long before he came down fully dressed and looked around until his eyes landed on her. Then he waved her on. She jumped up and went to him

“Let’s go. We have a long way to go” He said moving to the entrance . Then he checked in his pocket and brought out a shilling which he dropped at the desk to which the receptionist kept shouting appreciation to him long after we left the building. He must be a rich man to give a whole shilling away like that she thought

When they got to the stables. The carriage was ready . A man stood there whom she assumed to be his carriage-man . He greeted him and told him everything was ready for departure. He asked her to enter into the carriage and she was unsure of that because she really stank and wouldn’t want him to change his mind in taking her.

“ What’s the problem?. Do you think we have luxury of time to waste . Get into the damn carriage” He ordered without mercy. She flew in without a second thought . He soon joined her and then tapped the carriage. If he was inconvenient in anyway, he didn’t show it. She was so cautious of herself she remained coiled up in a corner leaving a big space to him. He didn’t say a word to her throughout the journey.

The carriage was very fast that before dark he had announced that they were close to his home. They had made one stop and continued very early the next morning. She had prayed they reach already as she couldn’t bear another night laying on hay. Her whole body ached. She needed a bathe and a good food at least. The second day she had slept throughout the journey until she was awoken by some noise. she opened her eyes and looked around noticing that she was the only one in the coach . She scrambled to the door and looked out. Climbing out she looked up at the driver.

“ He said to tell you he wanted to get something across the street ma’am ” She nodded amazed at her surrounding.

“ Where is this place?”

“ This is London” He provided looking surprisingly at her. Her eyes widened

“ London?, you mean like the real London?” She asked perplexed. He nodded still amazed at her behavior. she laughed out loud. Spreading my hands with joy. She is in London. “ I am in London!” She shouted acquiring apprehensive stares from passerby who thought she maybe mad. They have no idea. ...She’d read a lot about London. She had always wanted to come here but had only dreamt ,knowing it won’t be possible. But here she was in flesh. She jumped up. Meaning to experience the moment even if it were he last. Here her pursuers will never get to her. “ Yes!” The now amused driver just sat there watching her exhibit her child-like drama . It was a thing to behold. She moved forward looking about. This was exactly how she had read about it she thought. Nothing could possibly go wrong right now. She was engrossed in her sight seeing that she didn’t notice her master arrive. She turned to ask the driver something in excitement and froze when she saw him standing at the door of the coach looking at her with bloodshot eyes. He looked like he was about to kill her.

“ How dare you leave the coach!!!. What is wrong with you. Get the f**k back in” He yelled making her scamp with fright back into the coach vibrating in fear. Does he have to be that hostile? . she recoiled to a corner like usual and waited for him to board. He appeared to look around for a bit before entering the coach to join her.

“ The next time you do what I don’t ask you to. I’ll send you back to where you came from . Do you understand you little swine?.” She nodded frantically

“ Back here. It is my word your breathe. I say bark you bark I say bend you bend no questions just actions. Make sure to keep that in mind . I am very short tempered ” He reminded her making her quiver . He tapped at the wagon and it moved. Tears were falling by now. She just couldn’t hold it back. It appears, she just got into another hot position. It just keeps getting worse. She covered her mouth to avoid bawling out because her emotions has overpowered her. He didn’t seem to give a damn about her and kept to himself. After sometime, her tears subsided she managed to compose herself and act normal.

About ten minutes later, they arrived at a mansion. She looked out from the window of the carriage, and saw to her amazement the best edifice she has ever set her eyes on. She opened her mouth in awe. By now the carriage has stopped. She climbed out fast and stood in admiration . The building rose tall into the cloud. It looked like a castle from the pages of a novel. She stood there lost in approval of the great building that she didn’t notice the person that had come out to greet them.

“ Heeeeee,,, Big brother!” Someone screamed getting her attention. She looked at them with warmth. For the first time since she met him, she saw him smile. He was indeed a comely man. She hasn’t really had the courage to look at him properly, but standing there looking at the way he appeared happy to see this lady she can’t help but to admire the man he is. This was the kind of men that led one to sin.

She regained herself and quickly chastised herself for having such mundane thoughts. This was her master , and he will never ever want to do something with someone like her.
