12Maron had sent Paul-Henri off on an errand in Bergerac and was eating a baguette with ham and butter at his desk when Hubert Arnaud came into the station. Maron shoved the last of the sandwich into his mouth and drank down some water before thanking him for coming in. “Please understand, monsieur, you are not a suspect in the murder of Marcel de Fleuray.
