I was prepared.
Or I believed I was prepared for whatever lies he was about to throw in my face. Lies that would make me feel stupid.
But the world around us, my world, came to an abrupt stop.
“I’m certain that you are Mine.”
Those were the words that stopped everything, including my heart, for seconds that seemed like an eternity.
I didn’t know what I was expecting, but this wasn’t it.
I thought he would tell me he had to lie to Elara after that kiss. I thought he would just yell at me for being in that wing and for questioning his precious daughter.
I believed he would leave my questions unanswered again. I just didn’t think he would be so emotional… so raw and truthful.
I didn’t know how to react. H-how does one react to this?
