DYLAN:
Life was always all about me, my parents made it so by contributing a large sum of money to the school. They were the greatest funders of the school and never failed to flaunt their wealth everywhere, thinking it would be enough to protect me in school. Don't get me wrong, they loved me dearly, but I guess that was just the wrong way of showing it
For that reason, everyone in school knew me. I was the wealthy Whitmore heir, the hottest guy in high school, literally the face of the school itself, and I was never questioned by any teachers, even when I was wrong.
That was how much influence my parents had.
Everyone gave me the attention that I didn't ask for, except her.
Kiara Hartley.
Everyone looked at me, girls wanted to date me, wanted me in their beds, making me believe the world revolved around me, but she?… she was just there, always looking at Adrian and never for once did she notice me, not even when I did everything possible to get on her nerves every damn day.
That alone intrigued me. Drew me to her even more.
There was someone in this world who wasn't willing to give me attention despite knowing my background and who I was. It made me want to know more about her and since getting on her nerves was the only way for her to notice me every day, I did just that.
Only that, it caught up to me soon without realizing and that was when I knew I was the one who was f****d up completely.
Seeing Kiara again this close to me had me thinking about junior year when all I did was remind her every day how she was always stuck by Adrian's side like a lost puppy looking for affection.
I knew Kiara had a secret crush or rather, a secret obsession with Adrian. One time during a truth and dare game at Adrian House's birthday party, Nicole raised the question, and she totally denied it.
It was an obvious lie, I knew that, especially because I had spent junior high school getting on every nerve she probably had and I could tell when she was lying.
I hadn't seen her for so long, and all these years, she had grown different. Burstier, and she had dyed her hair blonde from the black it used to be in high school. She looked better now, more attractive, and no matter how much I wanted to deny that I wasn't surprised, I really was.
Adrian was a fool not to notice her or how much she had tried to get his attention after so many years.
I slid my hand back into my pocket, a small smile tugging at the corner of my lips as I watched Kiara walk until she exited the building gate.
Something about her was different and I could see it, especially when she talked back to me after I had called her little. She was no longer the calm Kiara, she had that fire in her eyes now. It wasn't just about her well-built shape, long, toned legs. She didn't trip on anything, just like she used to do in high school.
I was simply curious to know just how far Kiara could go being in the same city without clinging to Adrian every now and then.
Truthfully, I wanted to lose the deal to her and though I knew she had begun thinking of ways to make my life a living hell after I lost, the result of this was going to help her a lot without her realizing it and I was going to be in her life long enough to see it happen.
My phone rang on my desk, causing a distraction from my thoughts, and I walked over to my desk to pick up the call.
“Adrian, what's wrong?”
We both met three days ago at our favorite bar and that was when I got to know about Kiara's search for a house. That alone prompted me to make the rent really affordable just so she would be interested in moving in.
If I had approached Kiara directly, I was certain it would have been fruitless because I was the person she hated most in the world, so I used Adrian instead to let her know there was a vacancy at my lonely place.
“Nicole insisted on moving in today, so I think Kiara's moving out today as well.”

KIARA:
I got back to meet a surprise that I certainly didn't expect.
Nicole and Adrian were on the couch, kissing like wild, horny teenagers, and this spurred something in me. The sight of it twisted my chest so much that I felt like I couldn't breathe.
I had seen them kiss before, not once, not twice, but never this close. I clutched the straps of my bag, trying to control my thoughts.
“I think you both should get a room before it leads to ravishing each other.” My voice was faint as I spoke because I wanted to bury my emotions.
Adrian broke the kiss and tilted his head to me, the top two buttons of his blue shirt undone, at least enough to see the multiple hickeys she had created on his neck
“Kiara…” He called, trying to button his slightly loose pants and seal the belt properly. If I had known Nicole was coming today, I would have stayed at a hotel and come to get my things tomorrow.
“Oh, silly, Adrian owns the house, so I think anywhere is proper to f**k and have a good time. We're getting married soon you know, and he's been so clingy around me”
She drew invisible lines around his neck, “And I love it.”
She leaned in and kissed him again, hot, passionate and I heard him moan. This was Nicole telling me indirectly that I needed to pick up my things and leave. I didn't belong here anymore, I could clearly see that.
Adrian didn't turn his head to me again as he grabbed her waist, pulling her to his body. She stood up and sat on his lap, her back now facing me and he dug his finger into her blonde hair, kissing her like his life depended on it.
Tired of seeing the scene unfold in front of me, I walked away and headed straight for my room. Once I got in, I slammed the door shut, wishing it had been loud enough to at least distract them for even a second.
It was so f*****g clear that Adrian was never going to stop being so obsessed with Nicole. The way he looked at her, the way his eyes glittered even with her toxic nature whenever he was around her was just enough proof that he loved her so much, and I certainly didn't stand a chance.
I walked over to my closet and picked out my boxes so I could start packing. I wasn't going to give Adrian the chance of choosing between me and Nicole because I would clearly lose if he did that so saving myself the last bit of respect was necessary. At this point, I was thankful I had agreed to sign the contract for the room.
Almost two hours later, I was done packing.
I heard a slight knock on the door, before the doorknob clicked. When the door opened, I was shocked to see Dylan standing at the entrance,
What the hell was he doing here now?
