CHAPTER EIGHTEEN

Coming out from the shower, i picked a towel, wrapping it tightly around my chest. And placing another one over my wet hair. I make my way to the wardrobe. Placing my hand on the cold silver handle of the drawer. I'm already debating what to wear. Just grab anything and wear Jor. I opened the door the same time my phone started ringing. All other thoughts disappeared as I rushed to pick it from the dressing mirror. It is Feenah. I slide my finger across the screen and place the phone to my ear smiling. "Jidda!!" She screamed and I had to remove the phone from my ear for a moment. "What? are you planning to cause damage to my ear drums? To what do I owe this call?" She giggled and laughed. "What's so exciting? Have you gone insane?" She continued to giggle ignoring my comment. She needs to see a doctor. "Since you don't have anything to say. I'm hanging up." "No wait!" "Now what?" I asked muffling my hair with my finger tips. I swear this girl is irritating. "Guess what?" "I don't do guesses. Just spill." "You are just bad at guessing." "Whatever, whatever" "I'm getting married she blurted out." "You are getting married? I know that one." "I'm getting married in two weeks. " "What? Two weeks? Like one and then two?" We were supposed to get married on the same day but her own was postponed because the husband to be has one more year to finish his masters degree abroad and she's going to college here. The question how is at the Tip of my tongue. "I'm going with him." "And college?" "I'm going to differ. I'll continue when we get back." "The i***t made this arrangement didn't he? And you are really going to go with it?" Well her so called fiance is my older brother. "Jidda.. She scolded. Your going to be calling me aunty soon. " "In your dreams baby." "I'm so happy for you Feenah. I can't wait. I'm really happy. I did a small happy dance. I am really excited." "I'm going to call the idiot." She chuckled. "He was saying the same thing earlier." I smiled at the thought. I really did miss him. I miss everyone. One look at the mirror made me froze. There leaning against the door in all his glory is the little devil. His arm crossed against his chest. I swear I think I saw him smirk at me through the mirror. I muster the most furious look I could give before turning around. "What's with you and knocking? I asked him.' "And miss the little show? I'm entertained right now." "And what are you doing in my room? " "I'm sure you will care more about me seeing you like this." He grinned. Clearly amused. I gasped realizing what I was wearing. He chuckled. "I was wrong about being married to a baby. You surely don't look like one." I am speechless. "Get out!!" I screamed trying to find my hijab. He has no shame. Does he! "Shame? I'm seeing my halal. What's rightfully mine." He closed the door behind him laughing. While I stayed like a robot thinking of what just happened. "You have 30 minutes we are going out. He yelled from the living room." See, I told you he's always up to something you don't expect. I finished getting ready in less than 30 minutes. That was after I asked him were we are going and ignored me like the i***t he is. I put on my casual Atampa. A shirt and skirt. Did my head tie .i put on a simple necklace and earrings. My veil across my shoulders. A flat shoe and my bag. We drove in silence. He was humming and drumming his fingers on the steering wheel. "What's with your mood swing today?" I can't help but ask. He grinned and ignored me. Okay. I'm getting the ignoring treatment. We parked near a super market. So this is where we are going. I thought. "You should get something for them." "Who?" "The people we are visiting." "Who are they?" "You'll see." Urgghhh!! Annoying. "How do I know what they will like?" "I'll help you." In few minutes we came out with lots of chocolates and soft drinks. As we drive in silence. I really want to ask him were we are going but I know he won't tell. The moment I saw the familiar street I began grinning like a fool. I am soo happy. "Thank you. Thank you too much." I grinned at him. I wanted to leap and hug him. The image in my head made me shuddered. "I thought I was going to get a hug or something." He teased. "You deserve one." I rolled my eyes. "Does that means I'm getting one?" "In your dreams." "I don't think so." He smirked. I wanted to jump the moment he parked inside my house. I stared at the house in wonder. I'm so attached to this place. This is home. It felt like soo many many years. "I'll come in when I come to pick you." "Thank you." I whispered as I stepped out. "Adda Jidda." Yasmeen yelled as she runs to hug me. "Adda jidda. Adda Jidda is here." The kids started rushing out and giving me a bone crushing hug. Nana and Ummatie came running from the main kitchen and hugged me. I stared at them in wonder with tears in my eyes. I missed home soo much. I heard them greeting Adeel. I didn't realize he is still here. He is at the booth with the kids helping them take the cartons inside. I smiled and added another thank you for the drinks and chocolates. "They are my family too. Don't thank me." He can be a gentleman too. Today is great. It is perfect. I had fun. I spent a day with my family. My mom pampered me a lot. She prayed for us and gave me some advice. It was fun discussing the wedding plans with feenah and the girls. I look ahead for the wedding. Surprisingly I missed my so called husband. Especially when everyone is asking for him or about him. ADEEL I want to call my wife and tell her I'm coming to pick her up. But my battery ran down. I have been grinning all day like a maniac. She was soo happy earlier and I felt proud of my self. She's beautiful. She's my wife. My woman. Did she miss me? Did she think of me? I'm going to pick her and we are going back to our home. She spreads love everywhere she goes. I can see how both our families adore her. I parked the car outside. I said hello to the gate man and entered the house. The moment I stepped inside the house I heard her soft giggles. They are like music to my ears. Or I'm I hallucinating? The sight that beheld me is.. What was I saying? Breathtaking! She looked like an angel. I adore her. With her skirt pulled up exposing much of her legs. This the first time I'm seeing her hair out in the open. It's long. And beautiful. She's running around and giggling with Feenah. "It's okay!! I give up." She raised her hands in surrender. Panting. I can see the rising and falling of her chest. "So tell me. "Feenah nudged her. "I told you I'm not." "You are lying." "I'm not pregnant." She whisper yelled. "Oh really what is he waiting for?" "He's waiting for you idiot." I shouldn't be eavesdropping. It was not my fault in the first place. I swear Jidda is full of surprises. I should remind myself never to announce my presence and miss the entertainment. I can't help but think of having a baby with Jidda. A baby girl. She's going to be soo cute like her mother. Nooo. Nooo. I'm not going to think about the past. I won't let it ruin my new found happiness. The sound of a male snapped me from drowning in the memories of my haunting past. He's messing with my wife's hair. Even i didn't get to do that. I frowned. Feeling possessive. "Who asked you to come to our house?" "I'm more welcomed here than you are. You idiot." We have to do something about her habit of calling people i***t. "Oops!" Feenah saw me. "Jidda" she whispered. "Tell me it's Adeel." "He's always sneaking." This the first time I heard her called my name. It did something to me.
