CHAPTER TWENTY THREE

My annoying phone kept ringing and I snuggled deeper into the pillow trying to sleep some more while I kept cursing my phone in my head. It was silent for a minute and I was very thankful. My Victory was cut short when it started ringing again. Who even invented this damn phone? I groaned my eyes brimming with tears that someone is ruining my sleep. I buried my face deeper into the pillow trying to block out the ringing and concentrate on going back to sleep. It rang again, the damn phone rang again. I jerked my body from the bed and picked up the phone. "Good morning " I mumbled my voice laced with irritation. "Good morning to you too your royal highness " I quickly moved the phone from my ear to confirm what I already know. ADEEL! I ignored the sarcasm dripping from his voice. " how is your night? Though from the sound of your voice I can say that you slept well " I'm still angry at him for waking me up. "you have the decency to say that! When you didn't pick up any of my call last night. I had to call Asma to know that the princess was having her beauty sleep. And you are still in bed enjoying your sleep " So he called me last night. "so my fault now is that I slept? Sorry sweetheart. I should have waited for your call" my voice sweet even to my own ears. " you should have called me before going to sleep " "I'm sorry, I didn't know that you couldn't sleep without hearing my voice love, " "can you be serious for a sec? " " oh I'm totally serious " " suit yourself. I have to go. I asked Abba to take you around and meet some of the family members. I know you don't like being kept in the house. You can also go to your parents " "you are the best " " I know princess. Your welcome " "Take care, Good luck with whatever it is you are there to do " He chuckled before hanging up and I dashed for the bathroom to take care of my hygiene. I cleaned the room and my way to the living room. I found Asma in the kitchen. She handed me a mug of coffee. "Nagode " (thank you) I mumbled and she nodded her head. "what are we having aunty jidda? " "What will you like to have? I'm okay with anything " "I'll just peel the potatoes then " "yaya called last night asking for you. I checked on you and I told him that you were sleeping " "yeah, he called " "he was getting angry at me like I was the one that caused you to sleep. Please next time don't give the man a headache, seems like you already have him wrapped around your fingers " she teased as she wiggled her eyebrows suggestively. "you have no idea, I'm a girl but your brother's mood swings are worst than mine. It must be one of those. " "He was genuinely concerned. I know my brother. He has blindly refused to marry other girls, but you! You are something else. Give a girl some secrets " "it's not like he didn't reject me the first time we met. I didn't even know what changed his mind and I can't say I'm not curious " "his feelings for you " she stood on her toes and took the knives from the drawer. I placed the water down thinking of her words. " "his feelings for me? " if you are trying to set me up with your brother then you have to stop we are already married. " " I can't say I don't love the two of you together and don't worry even if he married a second wife, I'll be team Aunty jidda" she laughed making her dimples more prominent and I couldn't help but chuckle. The thought of Adeel marrying another woman is totally un appealing to me. "I'll keep that in mind " I took the frying pan out of the oven and placed it on the gas. "Did you know, when he came home and said that both of you didn't want to marry my mom was not convinced. She said that he likes you. He's just being stubborn. I thought he was never going to accept it. But you see, mom had a way of doing things. She told him she can't let you go. If he can't marry you. She will introduce you to our cousin. She wants you in our family. She told Yaya to convince him to marry you. He said that our cousin may not like you. Mom told him you are a beautiful woman there's no way he's ever gonna say no if he sees you and she's sure Yaya can testify to that. Again he said that you will not want our cousin because he's not your type. Mom said he's a charmer and he will no doubt charm you. " she laughed as she dragged the plate distracted. "I swear he was getting irritated, he said he'll talk to our cousin and then left but I guessed he never talked to him" I laughed. So he has been interested in me from the very beginning. Damn the i***t and his ugly face. Okay no lying to self, he's handsome with his long face and sharp jaws. He has the look that will make you stop in your tracks. he is hot, he has piercing gaze that makes you want to do things to please him. He has dimples that gives him a very boyish look when he smiles or laugh which is not very common. But he's also stubborn, violent ,has mood swings and can be very cold. His coolness is like an exterior he used in hiding his true self. I have had a glimpse of his beautiful soul, ones I had seen when he his exterior cracked. And I'm going to weakened his exterior until the entire wall falls, shattered. And as I uncover the beautiful soul behind it. I'll embrace him and make him mine. "I like your brother too but he doesn't need to know that " ********************************** "so where and where Did he ask you to take us? "I asked Abba who arrived about thirty minutes earlier. "yes where did he ask you to take us driver? " "I'm not your driver Asma. Say that again and you will be left here alone. " he threatened and she frowned. "you are such a fun spoiler" "he's asked me to take you to Aunty Hafsa's, Aunty zainab's and also to Ahmed's place. "we are also going to my home " "should we take Nana with us? " Asma asked peeking at Abba. Before I could answer her she cut me off. "oh we can't, my dear brother will think that we are turning him into our personal driver. " "Asma" he warned. "Yes brother? " she asked him innocently. She could deceive anyone. "Maybe we can drop you here and pick Nana as a substitute? You are too much trouble. It'll be better if we get you married off" "lies, you can't live without me! I'm very sure that you are missing me now and wishing I'm back home. Tell me you are not." "I'm not missing you doll, I kind of been pitying your husband. Do you even have a boyfriend? I mean look at you. But don't worry, I'll print out your pictures and distribute them at the mosque. You know how much this brother of yours loves you" She took a pillow and threw it at him. Hitting him in the face. She threw him another one and he dodged it laughing. "We will get even Abba " she muttered and I can't help but laugh at them. "Are we going out or not? You two are like cat and mouse " 'he's a bully " Asma glared at him. "she's the one always looking for trouble. She finds peace and comfort in irritating me " "you guys can continue your banter, or talk exchange or whatever it is while we are in the car" Going out with them turns out to be more fun that I thought it'll be. Our first stop was Aunty Hafsa's. A very kind woman that welcomed us with open arms. She treated me like a daughter and keep reminding us to visit Zara. and we informed her that we are going. She even gave us perfumes. And then Aunty zainab. Unfortunately she was not home. We headed to Zara's place. The moment she opened the door I was taken by her beauty. She beamed at us and usher us to come in. I guess dimples run in the family. "you must be jidda " "yeah that will be me" "I'm Asma and this guy here is our driver" she turned to Abba. " why didn't you wait for us in the car? " " don't mind the ugly duckling, I'm Abba. "I thought Ahmed is the cousin ?" I turned to ask them. "Yeah, why? " "she's the one looking like Adeel" "that's what I'm trying to pinpoint "Asma shouted making us flinch" "that shows how dump you are. I noticed the moment I stepped in. She even looks like you ugly duckling " "hey guys " she waved. "I'm right here, care to explain? " ********************************** I slumped down on the bed exhausted. We came back from my parents past ten. That was because my dad literally chased us out of the house because it's late. I picked up my phone and dialed Adeel's number but he didn't pick up. So I sent him a "good night" and a "thank you " before before plugging my phone to charge. I said my prayers and surrendered to darkness.
