Ethan stood in the balcony doorway with his fists clenched. “What the f**k do you think you’re doing with my wife?” Lucian didn’t move away from me. His hand stayed on my waist. His body still blocked most of mine from view. “She’s not your wife tonight,” Lucian said, voice calm and low. “She’s with me.” Ethan took a step closer. His face was red. “Elena, get over here. We’re leaving.” I looked at him. The same man who had been inside Sophia less than twenty-four hours ago. The same man who laughed about how easy I was. “No,” I said. “Don’t test me.” “I already did.” My voice stayed steady. “I’m not going anywhere with you.” Half the party had drifted toward the glass doors. People were watching. Whispering. Sophia stood just behind Ethan, eyes wide, trying to look shocked instead of furious. Ethan reached for my arm. Lucian’s hand shot out and caught his wrist before he could touch me. “Don’t,” Lucian said quietly. The single word carried more weight than a shout. Ethan froze. For a second I thought he might swing. Then he yanked his hand back, breathing hard. “This isn’t over,” he said to me. “It is for me.” Lucian guided me past him. His palm stayed firm on my lower back as we walked through the staring crowd. No one tried to stop us. The music felt too loud. The lights felt too bright. I kept my eyes forward until we reached the front door. Outside, the night air hit my face. Lucian handed the ticket to the valet without a word. We waited in silence. My hands were shaking. I curled them into fists so he wouldn’t see. When the car came, he opened my door. I slid in. He walked around and got behind the wheel. The doors closed. The noise of the party disappeared. We drove in silence for several blocks. My pulse was still racing. Every place he had touched me earlier still felt warm. I stared out the window and tried to steady my breathing. Lucian spoke first, eyes on the road. “You okay?” “No.” “Good. Means you’re still in it.” I turned my head to look at him. The streetlights moved across his face. His jaw was tight. His hands gripped the wheel harder than necessary. “My hands won’t stop shaking,” I said. “Adrenaline.” “It’s not just that.” He glanced at me once, then looked back at the road. He didn’t ask what else it was. He already knew. The rest of the drive stayed quiet. When we reached his building, he parked and came around to my side. We took the elevator up without speaking. The second the apartment door closed behind us, the performance dropped. I kicked off the heels. Lucian loosened his tie and tossed it on the counter. We stood in the living room facing each other. “I felt something,” I said. The words came out before I could stop them. “When you touched me tonight. In front of them. It wasn’t just acting for me.” Lucian’s eyes stayed on mine. “I stopped pretending halfway through the night.” The honesty landed hard between us. I let out a short breath. “So what now? We keep going until one of us forgets this is supposed to be revenge?” “We set rules.” “What rules?” He stepped closer. “We decide how far is too far. What stays performance. What doesn’t.” “And if we can’t tell the difference anymore?” “Then we deal with it.” I laughed once, sharp. “That’s not a rule. That’s an excuse.” “You want clear lines?” His voice dropped. “Fine. No more almost. No more stopping at the edge. If we touch, we mean it. If we don’t, we stay the hell away from each other in private.” I stared at him. My heart was beating too fast. “You’re saying we either keep it fake or we don’t keep it fake at all.” “Yes.” “That’s a terrible plan.” “It’s the only one that won’t get us both killed by confusion.” I took a step toward him. He didn’t move back. The space between us shrank. “And if I say I want the real version?” I asked. His eyes darkened. “Then you better be sure. Because I won’t do soft. I won’t do careful. And I damn sure won’t let you think about him while you’re with me.” The last sentence hung in the air. I should have stepped away. I should have reminded him this was about destroying Ethan and Sophia. Instead I stayed right there. “I’m sure,” I said. Lucian reached up and cupped the side of my neck. His thumb pressed under my jaw, tilting my face up. For one second we just breathed the same air. Then his mouth was on mine. The kiss was rough from the first second. No slow build. No testing. His other hand gripped my waist and pulled me hard against him. I grabbed the front of his shirt and kissed him back with the same anger and hunger. Teeth scraped. Tongues met. I made a sound against his mouth that I didn’t recognize as mine. He walked me backward until my shoulders hit the wall. His body pressed fully into mine. I could feel how hard he already was. One of his hands slid down and gripped my thigh, lifting it around his hip so he could settle deeper between my legs. The dress rode up. His fingers dug into bare skin. “Tell me to stop,” he said against my mouth, voice rough. “Don’t you dare.” He kissed me harder. His hand left my thigh and found the zipper at the back of my dress. He dragged it down in one long pull. Cool air touched my spine. The dress loosened and then fell when he pushed it off my shoulders. It pooled at my feet. I stood there in black lace underwear and nothing else. Lucian leaned back just enough to look at me. His eyes moved over my body slowly, like he was memorizing it. Then he reached behind me and unclasped my bra with one hand. The straps slid down my arms. He tossed it aside. “f**k,” he muttered. His mouth dropped to my neck. He kissed and bit a path down to my collarbone while his hands cupped my breasts, thumbs dragging over my n*****s until they hardened. I arched into him. My fingers tangled in his hair and pulled. He lifted me suddenly. I wrapped my legs around his waist. He carried me down the hallway without breaking the kiss. My back hit his bedroom door. He pushed it open with his shoulder and walked us straight to the bed. He set me down on the edge and stepped back only long enough to strip. Jacket. Shirt. Belt. Pants. Everything gone in under a minute. I watched him the whole time. Broad shoulders. Hard chest. The thin scar along his left ribs. The black raven tattoo over his heart. And lower, thick and already leaking at the tip. He came back to me, pushed me farther up the bed, and hooked his fingers in my underwear. He dragged them down my legs and tossed them. Then he was over me, knees spreading my thighs wide. “Look at me,” he ordered. I did. “You don’t think about him. Not while you’re in this bed. Not while I’m inside you. Understand?” “Yes.” “Say it.” “I won’t think about him.” He kissed me again, deep and claiming, while one hand slid between my legs. His fingers found me already wet. He groaned into my mouth and pushed two fingers inside without warning. I gasped. My hips lifted off the bed. “Soaked,” he muttered. “Was this from the party or from me almost kissing you on that balcony?” “Both,” I managed. He worked his fingers in and out, curling them until my thighs started to shake. His thumb circled my c**t in tight, mean strokes. I was already close. Too close. I grabbed his wrist. “Lucian—” “I know.” He pulled his fingers out, wiped them on my inner thigh, and settled between my legs. The head of his c**k pressed against me. “I’ll make you forget every single thing that isn’t this.” He pushed in with one long, hard thrust. The stretch burned in the best way. I cried out and dug my nails into his back. He didn’t give me time to adjust. He pulled almost all the way out and slammed back in. The bedframe knocked against the wall. His mouth found mine again, swallowing every sound I made. “f**k, you feel good,” he growled against my lips. “Tight and hot and finally mine for the night.” I wrapped my legs higher around him and met every thrust. The angle made him hit a spot deep inside that had my vision blurring. His hand shoved under my ass and lifted me so he could go even deeper. The wet sound of him f*****g me filled the room. “Harder,” I breathed. He gave it to me. Skin slapped. The headboard banged. I raked my nails down his back hard enough to leave marks. He hissed and bit my shoulder in answer. “You take me so well,” he said, voice rough. “Like you were made for this. Like you were waiting for someone to finally f**k the soft out of you.” I moaned and turned my face into his neck. He didn’t let me hide. He grabbed my jaw and forced me to look at him while he kept driving in deep. “Eyes on me. I want to watch you come apart.” The orgasm hit hard and sudden. My back arched. My mouth opened on a silent cry. My walls clenched around him in tight waves. He f****d me through it, never slowing, until I was shaking and oversensitive. He pulled out, flipped me onto my stomach like I weighed nothing, and yanked my hips up. Then he was back inside me from behind in one smooth thrust. The new angle made me cry out into the pillow. His hand tangled in my hair and pulled my head back while the other gripped my hip hard enough to bruise. “Still with me?” he asked, thrusting deep. “Yes—f**k—yes.” “Good. Because I’m not done.” He set a brutal pace. Every stroke bottomed out. The sound of skin on skin was filthy. I pushed back to meet him, chasing another orgasm already building. His hand left my hip and reached around to rub my c**t in rough circles. “Come again,” he ordered. “I want to feel it.” I did. Harder than the first time. My arms gave out. I collapsed forward onto the bed while he kept f*****g me through the waves. Only when I was limp and gasping did he finally let go. He buried himself deep, groaned my name, and came inside me in thick pulses. For a long moment the only sound was our breathing. Lucian pulled out carefully and dropped onto the bed beside me. His heavy arm draped across my waist, pinning me in place. My body felt used and loose and somehow still hungry. I turned my head on the pillow and looked at him. His eyes were closed. Sweat cooled on his chest. The raven tattoo rose and fell with each breath. I was still trying to catch my breath when my phone lit up on the nightstand. The screen glowed in the dark. One new message. Sophia. I reached for it with fingers that still trembled. I know what you’re doing. End it by morning or I ruin you both.
