Her Rules, His Game

I woke up naked and sore. Sunlight cut across the bed. Lucian’s sheets smelled like s*x and his skin. My body ached in places I hadn’t felt in years. For a second I just lay there, staring at the ceiling, trying to remember how to breathe normally. Then I saw my phone on the nightstand. The message from Sophia was still on the screen. I know what you’re doing. End it by morning or I ruin you both. I sat up slowly. The sheet slipped down to my waist. Lucian was already awake, lying on his side watching me. His gray eyes looked darker in the morning light. The raven tattoo over his heart rose and fell with his breathing. “She’s not bluffing,” I said, holding the phone out. He took it, read the message once, and set it back down. “Then we don’t give her time to move first.” I pulled the sheet higher. “What does that mean?” “It means we hit harder and faster.” He sat up. The muscles in his back shifted. “Get dressed. We need to talk before we leave this room.” I found one of his shirts on the floor and pulled it on. It hung to mid-thigh. Lucian watched me the whole time, eyes tracking every movement. The intensity from last night hadn’t faded. If anything, it was stronger. We sat on opposite sides of the bed. “Last night changed things,” I said. “Yes.” “I still want the revenge. That part hasn’t changed.” “I know.” “But I need to stay in control of this pact. I can’t let… this…” I gestured between us, “make me stupid.” Lucian leaned forward, elbows on his knees. “You’re already remembering how I felt inside you. I can see it on your face.” Heat crawled up my neck. “That’s not the point.” “It’s exactly the point.” His voice stayed low. “I’m not going to pretend last night was just part of the plan. It wasn’t. Not for me. And from the way you came on my c**k twice, it wasn’t for you either.” I looked away. “We still have rules.” “Then make new ones. Because the old ones are already broken.” We spent the next hour planning. Lucian wanted to go to my apartment today and get everything important, documents, jewelry, the few things that were actually mine. He said Ethan would expect me to come alone and broken. Showing up with Lucian would send a clearer message. I agreed, even though my stomach twisted at the thought of walking back into that place. By late morning we were in the car again. Lucian drove. I stared out the window and tried not to think about the way his hands had held me open last night. It didn’t work. The apartment building looked the same. Same doorman. Same quiet lobby. My key still worked. The second the door opened, I smelled Ethan’s cologne mixed with Sophia’s perfume. He was waiting in the living room. Ethan stood up the moment we walked in. His eyes went straight to Lucian, then to me wearing yesterday’s dress and Lucian’s presence like a shield. “You brought him here?” Ethan’s voice was tight. “Into our home?” “It’s not our home anymore,” I said. “Elena, stop this. You’re angry. I get it. But bringing another man into this is—” “Is what? Worse than you f*****g my best friend in our bed for two years?” His face flushed. “I made a mistake.” “No. You made a choice. Over and over.” Ethan took a step toward me. Lucian moved slightly, just enough to put himself between us without looking aggressive. The quiet shift was somehow more threatening than a raised voice. Ethan noticed. His jaw clenched. “You don’t want to do this, Kane. You have no idea who you’re dealing with.” Lucian’s voice stayed even. “I know exactly who I’m dealing with. A man who lost his wife the second she caught him cheating, and who’s now watching her walk away with someone else. You’ve already lost. The only thing left is how loud you want to be about it.” Ethan looked at me, trying a different angle. “You’re going to throw away four years over one mistake? We can fix this. I’ll end things with Sophia. We’ll go to counseling. I’ll give you whatever you want.” “I want the life I gave up for you,” I said. “You can’t give that back.” “So you’d rather be his w***e?” The word hung in the air. Lucian spoke before I could. “Call her that again and this conversation ends differently.” Ethan laughed, but it sounded forced. “You think you’re protecting her? You’re just the rebound she’s using to hurt me.” I walked past both of them toward the bedroom. “I’m packing my things. You can stand there and talk to yourself.” I pulled a suitcase from the closet and started throwing clothes in. Documents from the bottom drawer. Jewelry my mother had given me. The few books that were mine. My hands moved fast. I didn’t want to stay in this room longer than necessary. In the back of the drawer where I kept important papers, I found a folder I didn’t recognize. I opened it. Bank statements. Emails printed out. Notes in Ethan’s handwriting. My name was on every page, but crossed out. New accounts. Transfers. A draft of a post-nup that would have left me with almost nothing. Dates going back over a year. Sophia’s name appeared in the emails too. They had been planning to cut me out financially long before I ever walked in on them. The folder shook in my hands. Lucian appeared in the doorway. “Elena?” I held the papers out. He took them, scanned the first few pages, and his expression went cold. “They were going to leave you with nothing,” he said. “I know.” Ethan stepped into the hallway. “Those are private.” I looked at him. Something inside me finally settled into place, hard and clear. “You weren’t just cheating,” I said. “You were erasing me.” He opened his mouth. Closed it. For the first time he looked actually afraid. Lucian closed the folder. “We’re done here. Take what you need. We’re leaving.” I finished packing in silence. Ethan didn’t try to stop me again. When we walked out, he was still standing in the living room, staring at the floor. The drive back to Lucian’s place was quiet. I kept the folder on my lap. Every time I looked at it, the anger rose hotter. Inside the apartment, I dropped the suitcase and the folder on the counter. Lucian locked the door behind us. The second the lock clicked, the last of my control snapped. “They were going to take everything,” I said. My voice came out rough. “Every bit of security I thought I had. And I was too busy trying to be the perfect wife to notice.” Lucian walked toward me. “Come here.” “I don’t want soft right now.” “I’m not offering soft.” He backed me against the counter. His hands braced on either side of my hips. The heat of his body sank into mine. “Say it,” he said. “Say what?” “That you’re done with him. Out loud. So there’s no confusion left.” I held his eyes. “I’m done with Ethan. Completely.” Something possessive flashed across his face. “Again.” “I’m done with him.” Lucian kissed me hard. It wasn’t careful. It was claiming. I kissed him back with all the anger and hurt still burning in my chest. His hands gripped my thighs and lifted me onto the counter. My dress rode up. He stepped between my legs and pulled me flush against him. “I want you,” he said against my mouth. “Not for revenge. Not as a weapon. I want you. Say you understand that.” I pulled back just enough to look at him. “You want me for real.” “Yes.” “Then prove it.” He carried me to the bedroom. This time there was no rushing to strip. He undressed me slowly, piece by piece, eyes on every inch of skin he uncovered. When I was naked he laid me down and settled over me, still fully clothed. His mouth started at my throat and worked down. He kissed the tops of my breasts, then sucked one n****e into his mouth while his hand teased the other. I arched under him. My fingers slid into his hair. He took his time, licking and biting until I was restless and wet. Only then did he move lower. He kissed down my stomach, pushed my thighs apart, and put his mouth between my legs. I gasped. His tongue was slow and deliberate at first, long strokes through my folds, circling my c**t without giving enough pressure. Then he sucked hard and pushed two fingers inside me at the same time. My hips jerked. He held me down with one arm across my stomach and kept going, curling his fingers until my thighs shook. “Lucian—” He didn’t stop. He licked and sucked and f****d me with his fingers until I came with a broken cry, legs clamped around his head. He stayed there through it, gentling only when I got too sensitive. When he finally rose up, his mouth was wet. He wiped it with the back of his hand and stripped out of his clothes. His c**k was hard and heavy. He stroked himself once while looking at me, then settled between my thighs again. He pushed in slowly this time. Inch by inch. Letting me feel every stretch. When he was fully seated he stayed still, forehead pressed to mine. “You’re done with him,” he said. “Yes.” “And you’re here because you want to be.” “Yes.” He started moving. Deep, steady strokes that made me moan with every thrust. The pace stayed controlled for a while, almost tender, until the emotion between us got too sharp. Then his control frayed. He hooked one of my legs higher and drove in harder. The sound of skin meeting skin filled the room. I met every thrust, nails digging into his back, mouth open against his shoulder. “Harder,” I whispered. He gave it to me. The slower start disappeared. Now it was desperate and deep and a little rough. He kissed me like he was trying to crawl inside my lungs. One hand shoved under my ass to tilt me higher so he could hit that spot that made my vision blur. “I’m the only one who gets you like this,” he growled. “Say it.” “You’re the only one.” “Again.” “You’re the only one who gets me like this.” He cursed and f****d me through another orgasm that left me shaking. Only when I was limp and gasping did he finally let go, burying himself deep and coming with a low, rough sound against my neck. We stayed locked together afterward, breathing hard. His weight was heavy and warm on top of me. My fingers traced the raven tattoo without thinking. A hard knock sounded at the front door. Lucian lifted his head. The knock came again, louder. He pulled out carefully, grabbed a pair of sweatpants, and walked out of the bedroom. I sat up, still naked, heart starting to race for a new reason. I heard the front door open. Sophia’s voice carried down the hallway, thick with tears. “That’s her. She attacked me last night.” I scrambled for Lucian’s shirt and pulled it on just as he stepped back into view. Behind him stood Sophia with red eyes and a police officer in uniform.
