CHARACTER FILE 4: The False Alliance — CHAIRMAN İLKAY BEY & SEVGÜL HANIM
They stood beneath the grand crystal chandelier that dominated the ceiling in the most opulent corner of the mansion: the two individuals at the absolute top of Tekton Holding—Chairman of the Board, İlkay Bey, and his wife, Sevgül Hanım, the darling of high society.
To an outsider, they were the country’s most noble, devoted, and flawless couple. Whenever press flashes went off, both instantly assumed a perfectly calculated, radiant smile. İlkay’s commanding presence in his custom Italian tuxedo, paired with Sevgül’s regal posture in her emerald-embroidered, high-slit gown, presented a picture-perfect portrait envied by everyone in the room.
Yet behind this façade lay a rotten marketplace where two vultures waited to tear the flesh off one another.
The moment the camera flashes faded and the photographers turned away, the dazzling smiles on their faces vanished instantly.
Sevgül's grip on her diamond-studded champagne glass tightened so violently that her long, manicured nails produced a high-pitched, grating screech against the glass, making me shudder as I stood nearby. Without moving her lips, her eyes fixed on the crowd, she hissed through her teeth like dripping poison:
"İlkay... Stop staring at that twenty-year-old new secretary at the next table. You look like you're about to melt right into her cleavage. If any of the magazine reporters in this room catch that greedy expression, we’ll be ruined in the papers on Monday."
Without breaking his mask of a philanthropic, distinguished businessman, İlkay tightened his grip on his wife’s waist. His fingers dug so deeply into her flesh beneath her silk gown that I heard Sevgül let out a sharp hiss of pain.
"Shut your mouth, Sevgül," İlkay responded, his voice colder than the deep currents of the Bosphorus. "You are the last person on earth to lecture me on morality. Do you think I don't know what you were up to with that young intern in the basement archive room? I personally tracked down which holding budget you used to pay for that latest sports car you bought him."
Sevgül’s pupils dilated in momentary panic, her skin turning pale beneath her blush. But she recovered quickly. Throwing her head back slightly, she restored her arrogant, icy smile.
"Are you trying to threaten me with that, İlkay?" she said, her tone dripping with blackmail. "If you file for divorce, I will pull all the hidden shares my father invested in this holding. I’ll strip you of your cherished Chairman title and throw you out onto the street before you can even grab your coat. Now wrap your filthy hand tighter around my waist and turn to the cameras."
İlkay’s jaw muscles clenched with a quiet clack. Pure hatred flared in his eyes, but his fear of losing his seat and wealth far outweighed his hatred. He did as his wife commanded: he tightened his grip, narrowed his eyes, and offered his most sycophantic smile toward an elderly board member approaching them.
"Ah, İlkay Bey, Sevgül Hanım... Seeing a couple so devoted and respectful to one another in this day and age truly warms the heart," the old man said, his eyes beaming.
"Thank you so much, sir," Sevgül replied, her voice now as gentle as a mother's warm embrace. "The secret to our success is our unwavering trust and honor."
Standing directly behind them disguised as a waiter collecting empty glasses, my stomach churned. I had to force myself not to vomit.
Honor? Dignity?
These two monsters were draining the holding’s funds for their own lust and paramours while underreporting the insurance of factory and worm farm workers, throwing us out the door whenever we asked for a modest raise, and bribing officials to cover up toxic gas leaks in the warehouse. As Kürşad, I had spent seven years logging their secret office fights, blackmail tapes, and wage thefts into my black ledger, line by line.
They hid behind wealth and power, covering up each other's filth to play the noble game for the public. But they were blind to what was coming.
The Grand Partnership Tribunal Kürşad had prepared for them was about to shatter this false alliance. Kürşad would bind these two frauds together atop the deepest industrial waste tank in the dark, damp heart of the Worm Farm. Before them would sit a single release button: they could either broadcast their crimes and the repulsive tapes of their mutual infidelities live to the entire country, or drop together into the acidic sludge where hundreds of thousands of carnivorous worms waited to decompose them.
Let's see if their love for money and power can stop them from tearing at each other's throats inside that mud.
CHARACTER FILE 5: The Silent Partner — MARUT BEY
Standing a few steps away from İlkay Bey, swirling his whiskey glass as the ice clinked rhythmically against the crystal, was a man silently observing his surroundings: Marut Bey, the most enigmatic and quiet partner on the board of directors.
Marut was in his fifties, his facial features rigid and unmoving like carved marble. His eyes lacked Erman’s arrogance and Gürkan’s greedy lust; they held only cold, calculated malice.
He was the true mastermind—fully aware of all the depravity within the holding, Gürkan’s dirt, and Erman’s embezzlement, yet turning a blind eye to all of it simply to keep the company's stock from suffering. In fact, he leveraged these dirty secrets to blackmail his fellow board members whenever necessary.
Turning to an investor who approached him, he whispered without a single flicker of emotion on his face:
"I don't care who sleeps with whom in this company, nor do I care how much anyone steals. My sole interest is ensuring the stock charts point upward on Monday morning. If corruption yields profit, I have no issue with it."
His absolute silence and callousness earned him a high spot on Kürşad’s list. For he who turns a blind eye to evil is just as guilty as he who commits it.
CHARACTER FILE 6: The Gilded Victim — PETEK HANIM
Sitting at the bar, Petek was the newest and most radiant face of the holding. In her early twenties, with flawless skin, large hazel eyes, and an air of innocence, she was like a lamb thrown into a den of wolves. In her elegant backless gown, she looked as graceful as a swan, but that grace had just been tainted by the touch of Gürkan’s shameless fingers on her shoulder.
As Gürkan walked away, Petek’s breathing accelerated, her chest heaving. Closing her eyes, the cheerful music in the mansion blurred into a deafening noise. Desperate to erase the lingering smell of Gürkan’s alcohol-and-tobacco breath from her skin, she pressed her cold, icy glass against her shoulder.
As the freezing cold sent a shiver through her body, she wept inwardly. She had wanted to enter this industry with her dignity and talent intact, but the moment she crossed the holding’s threshold, she learned the bitter truth: the price of advancement was paid with one's body and honor.
Kürşad had seen the heartbreak in Petek’s helpless gaze. She was no criminal to be punished; she was the ultimate witness summoned to that mansion to ensure justice was served.
CHARACTER FILE 7: The Mole — CEVDET BEY ("THE WEASEL")
And finally, lurking in the dimmest shadow of the hall, was a man whose eyes darted constantly from side to side, his head bowed slightly forward: Cevdet Bey, known around the company as "The Weasel."
Cevdet was the head of internal audit and security, but his true occupation was espionage. He was the man who leaked Erman’s fake invoices to İlkay, slid İlkay’s blackmail tapes to Sevgül, and actively trafficked in every piece of dirt within the holding.
An insidious, greasy smile was permanently etched onto his face. He walked around constantly rubbing his hands together, as if holding a fresh secret in his palms.
Spotting Can emerging from the elevator foyer, Cevdet narrowed his eyes and glided silently behind him. His footsteps were so light that, like a true weasel, he left no trace as he approached his prey. Reaching Can, he placed a hand on the boy’s shoulder and whispered in a slick tone:
"Can... Think very carefully about who you give that yellow envelope in your pocket to. If you take it to the wrong person, that envelope becomes your shroud. But if you give it to me... I'll make you a manager in this company."
Weasel Cevdet believed everyone’s honor had a price tag. But there was one thing he didn't know: Kürşad had watched his every sneaky step and covert deal from the darkness of the worm farm for seven years. Cevdet’s sly smile was destined to freeze forever in the "Mole Trap" Kürşad had laid for him.
CHARACTER FILE 8: The Monster Behind the Sweet Mask — SÜPHAN BEY
Everyone in the hall bowed to him with respect. He was the holding’s "Grandpa Süphan." With his white hair, rosy cheeks, a paternal smile he never dropped, and amber prayer beads in hand, he appeared from the outside to be the conscience of Tekton Holding and İlkay Bey’s most trusted relative. He headed the most critical department: accounting and international procurement. Everyone mistook him for a benevolent, soft-hearted elder.
Yet behind that soft mask lurked the most vile, narcissistic, and sadistic monster the holding's corridors had ever seen.
Süphan Bey’s dark, filthy reach extended all the way to his own grandchild, concealed beneath the cover of the holding's international procurement network. He was a sadistic p*****t who took pleasure in inflicting pain and destroying the lives of those closest to him for his own gratification and narcissistic fulfillment. He used his age and status as armor, using corporate funds to silence the wreckage he left behind.
