A small simple carriage drove to a stop at the gate of a majestic estate.
"Open the Gates" the maid shouted towards the big intricately designed gate.
After a short while "my lady please alight, we have arrived" the maid knocked on the door lightly.
"Creak " the doors on the simple carriage slowly creaked open as lilac stepped down lightly dressed in trousers which seemed to fit her very well, she scanned the place that once gave her horrible nightmares, beautiful and elegant on the outside but cruel and disgusting on the inside.
"Let's go" walking forward confidently, she looked at the stunned maid. "what, do I have to carry you now" she smiled as the maid lowered her head blushing in embarrassment.
In the main hall an elegantly dressed lady sat gracefully sipping tea while chatting with noble woman who was sitting opposite her when they maid led lilac into the main hall.
"Greetings duchess , countess Fiona" the maid curtsied .
" Good day ladies" Lilac pulling a chair and she sat nonchalantly but elegantly with a charming air around her.
" Ugh Lilac where are your manners, I am so sorry countess Fiona but as you know my Lilac has just come back from the country side, so please do not be offended".
" I understand duchess since that is the case I will take my leave I see that you and your daughter have a lot to catch up on " . Fiona smiled gently causing Lilac to sneer in her heart ' hypocrite ' she thought.
After a while , The Duchess turned to Lilac after Fiona Left, taking a quick scan of the young girl with a veil on her face.
Quickly masking her disdain she said " Lilac dear ".
" You must have suffered a lot during those years, but I know that you understand the reason the Duke and I had to make that decision" she placed her hand on Lilac's shoulder.
"Yes I understand ".
"It's good that you understand".
" Yes how wouldn't I understand that my mother just died and you a mere concubine could not wait a day less and clung shamelessly to the Duke who just lost his wife and convinced him to marry you as his wife , and to eliminate any threat that will be posed to your children you banished the late wife's young daughter to the dark forest telling people that she was sick and needed treatment in the countryside, so yes dear "duchess " I would be a fool if I did not understand " . Lilac smiled finishing her words taking a sip of the tea on the table .
" Dear I know that you never liked the fact I married your father immediately after the death of your mother but the situation called for it " .
smiling gently she placed her hands on Lilac's .
' really ' Lilac thought scoffing inwardly .
" Oh do not misunderstand me stepmother, that is not what I meant"
" There is no need to explain anything, I know that everything is all my fault and I will do anything to gain your forgiveness " The duchess said squeezing out a few tear drops which she quickly wiped away.
" Dear mother which way is it to my mother's former room" .
"why are you asking" .
"it's just.... I would just like to see my mother's former living quarters to reminisce on the memories I shared with her " .
" No problem, since that is the case it's this way "the duchess said a little skeptical ' what is this girl thinking ' she thought .
