Chapter Fourteen

I turned to run back to Whitney, but he had ahold of my arm in seconds. His grip was tight, painful, and cold, unlike Axel's, and I instantly burst into tears, never giving up my struggle against him. He started dragging me toward an unfamiliar car and I looked at Blaine, silently yelling out for him to get up. He never woke. "Those wolves taught you spunk, didn't they?" He spat icily and hugged me from behind with one arm, his salty, odd smelling, palm pressed against my nose and mouth. I tried to turn away but failed and he opened the car door, throwing me in. My face hit the side of the center console and I winced, holding my now throbbing head with more tears streaming down my face from the impact. I kicked the door just as he closed it, resulting in the bones in my unhealed ankle to grind together in an excruciatingly painful way, making me cry harder. "Just go the f**k to sleep already," he snapped as he entered the car and my vision began to blur, my world was spinning and I felt it get progressively worse, "I gotcha," he smirked sinisterly, raising his hand and shaking a foreign bottle to show what he did, except I couldn't comprehend what was happening in time and fell limp into the seat. I want Axel. 𓃥 "Wake up!" A familiar voice pierced my eardrums and my entire body stiffened in horror, though I refused to open my eyes to see reality as I continued to envision Axel. "Do not make me repeat myself, Angelica!" She screamed, cracking something against the floor and I ripped my eyes open with a flinch to see a barbed wire whip. "Good, now tell me about those wolf friends of yours," she squatted down next to me and I kept my head low, feeling myself emotionally start falling back into the girl I was before I escaped. I jumped when a notebook and pen landed in my lap, shakily taking them with my eyes set on Jade's body to make sure she wasn't moving. "Tell me, who's their Alpha? Who controls them?" She spat, shooting her now empty hand out to my throat and I choked, widening my eyes as tears filled them and she forced me to meet her gaze, tightening her hold, "I know you know, you pathetic, disgusting, used, poor excuse of a girl. Don't protect those disgraces, they don't care about you! Nobody would truly care about someone like you!" She scoffed, glaring into my blind eye, "fine, if that's how you want to play it, I'll play." My heart was electrified, making me freeze and look down at the paper, quickly taking the pen and writing an answer to avoid whatever she plans to do next. Axel is Alpha. I showed her, my hold on the notebook revealed just how much I was trembling so she grabbed the side above one of my hands to steady it, her eyes following the words. "Axel Ramos Moretti is their Alpha?" She scoffed, her voice echoed off the walls of the basement and the anger in her hateful heart began to grow. I sunk further into the corner, my lip quivering at how eagerly my eyes wanted to let the water out. "The white wolf is their Alpha!" She shouted over her shoulder, "I f*****g had him! I could've ended this s**t! Son of a b***h!" Much to my surprise, she didn't raise her hands and hit me, she merely sneered and asked another question, "what the hell does someone of such powerful ranking want with you? You're nothing! You can't give him anything! You won't!" That's not true! I angrily started writing, my words coming off sharp and squiggly due to my shaking and growing rage. When I finished, I showed her with downturned, furrowed brows to emphasize my anger. I'm Axel's soulmate. Her once angry face fell and her lips slowly pulled up into a dark smile, causing me to hug the notebook to my chest with strong regrets about telling her that judging by the current look on her features. Her wicked face fell once again when Henry came running back in the room, his expression full of fear, "we have a slight problem... the wolves are here!" "Yeah, I could've told you that'd happen if I had known this b***h was their Luna!" She screamed, causing Henry's eyes to bug out and he slammed the door closed, clicking it locked. "Then kill her now and their Alpha loses seventy-three percent of his power, making him weaker than the average werewolf," he answered, throwing me off guard with his intelligence. "No, I want him to see it—to really feel it," she grinned evilly, getting up and walking over to the pile of weapons by the wall. I watched in horror as she moved things around before picking up a rope and coming back over, kneeling down and wrapping it around my neck. I knew better than to fight her, giving her the perfect access she needed as she finished off and stood, yanking the end of it and making me jolt toward her. I winced, lowering my head in shame and humiliation. "Since you're going to hang with the dogs, you're going to get treated like such," she laughed, dragging me toward the second exit that led straight outside. I don't want him to see me like this. I grabbed onto the threshold of the door, pulling against her only to be yanked harshly and something in my neck popped. A burning pain formed in my throat and I lost my focus to fight, grabbing onto my throat and widening my eyes. "Is this who you want to help lead you?" I heard her cackle and my body was dragged across the ground. I kept my head low until she yanked it back with the rope around my neck, forcing me to face a group of gorgeous wolves. I was mesmerized. In the front was Marshmallow, his beautiful, snowy fur stood out from the rest and his soul-piercing, bright yellow eyes locked onto the woman tormenting me with a murderous glint. Normally, that'd scare me, but I can strangely say it brought me comfort. I watched the black skin coating his lips curl, revealing his sharp, bright teeth and bits of his pink gums, emphasizing just how long his canines were. The sight made me shiver, yet it wasn't out of fear per usual. The wolves behind him did the same, growling and inching closer to us as they rounded him, still careful not to alter his straight view on my mother. They moved as if they've trained for this. Jade scoffed, "dogs and their loyalty," she chuckled darkly, yanking at the rope and I choked, instinctively shooting my hands up as an attempt to pry it off. That's when I spotted a brown wolf charging straight toward my mother. I wasn't sure where it came from but I didn't have time to care. The wolf was about twenty feet away when it lifted its front paws off the grass and kicked off the ground with its hind legs, lunging straight for Jade. She was oblivious to the animal behind her and I widened my eyes, jumping into her just as the wolf rammed into us. I hit the grass with a wince, my head bouncing off the ground and the wolf above me was knocked off within the second by a flash of white. My vision blurred and I blinked repeatedly, struggling to regain my sight as I dropped my head to the side, squinting at the mix of brown and white fur throwing each other around. Loud snarling, growling, yelping, and whimpering flooded into the air but it was over quickly. The brown wolf was pinned to the ground and Marshmallow stood over it, untouched, while snapping his jaws and baring his teeth. Saliva dripped onto the other wolf as it stringed down from his teeth, making him look rabid. He stepped off the brown wolf and darted his head to the side, catching my mother and Henry sprinting away, which made his ears perk straight up and his face instantly went neutral before he barked. This made every other wolf go running in that direction as he rushed over to me, sniffing every exposed area on my body. He nuzzled his snout into my neck, tugging at the rope with low, frantic whimpers. I turned my head to give him room and saw another wolf helping the brown one on the ground, licking its snout with flattened ears. They reminded me of Blaine and Whitney. The gray wolf helping him looked at us and took a step, freezing when Marshmallow turned his head with a side eye, baring his teeth as his hackles stuck straight up. The wolf lowered to the grass in submission but the brown wolf stood, walking toward us warily with a lowered head. I watched Marshmallow suddenly whip his body around, snapping his jaws and growling viciously. The wolf tripped over himself, crashing into the ground and revealing his stomach and neck. I slowly sat up, feeling the rope slide off my neck and I pet his side with a frown. He turned back to me, his ears airplaned and he whined, curling his body around me and licking my chafed neck. He then nudged me and I smiled, silently laughing when he nuzzled into my hair with strange noises and tickled the healing injury on the back of my neck using his wet nose. He makes everything better. 𓃥 I frowned as Marshmallow trotted into the bathroom with a pair of shorts in his mouth, nudging the door closed with his front paw. We just returned and I'm relieved to be back in Axel's house, but I feel guilty as though everything that happened is my fault. We just left without a word. That wasn't safe or smart. There should always be someone who doesn't go that knows where you are, even if it is as something as minor as a*****e. The sound of the door opening made me raise my head and freeze, not at all prepared for what just walked out of the bathroom. It was Axel, which I knew, except he was flashing the top half of his birthday suit, which I wasn't anticipating I'd ever get to see. My palms began to sweat as he approached the bed and sat next to me, although I couldn't see his expression to decipher what he was thinking because my eyes seemed to be intently locked onto his torso. The smooth look of his tan skin tempted me for a feel like I was a moth drawn to a flame. The sculpture built in his body was like museum art, a masterpiece that shouldn't be touched in fear it'd become tainted, but your intrusive thoughts are too strong to deny... so you do it. I ran my fingers over his abdomen muscles, my mouth falling slightly agape at the confirmation they were real and that I wasn't hallucinating. This was something I'd see in movies, never in real life. "Oh—" he choked, his body tensing under my touch, "A-Angel, um, what are you—" His words stopped flowing out of his mouth when I lifted my head to stare at him, retracting my hand and frowning just as his hand cupped my cheek, gently tilting my head to the side. His other hand softly grazed my raw neck, his eyes roaming my exposed skin in examination and I felt my cheeks heat. "Nevermind, I'm just worried about you. Are you okay? Does anything hurt?" He asked in a sigh, releasing me and running a hand down his face. My frown deepened at his visible frustration and I couldn't help but continue to feel at fault. I fiddled with my hands, moving to my knees and grabbing his shoulder for balance before leaning in and planting my lips to his cheek. He went stiff again, making me move back to sit with a feeling of hurt in my chest. Does he not like me too? He came back to reality after a moment, snapping his gaze to mine and a huge grin plastered over his lips, washing away all previous hurt I felt. I smiled at him, throwing myself into his arms and curling up into his bare, warm chest. "You're so perfect," he whispered, slipping his hand between our bodies and gently pushing me back to look at me. Our eyes met and I melted, just as mesmerized as I was when I first saw them, "what do you say we do something tonight? Me and you?" I nodded, my smile growing, and he returned it, giving me a kiss on the forehead and I instantly felt giddy. I can't wait to spend tonight with him.
