The Sins of a Brother

Chapter 8

As Mark rushed back to the hospital, his mind was consumed with thoughts of Sophie and her well-being. He was seething with anger and disgust towards his brother Aiden for what he had done to her.

When he arrived at the hospital, he saw Edward sitting in the waiting room. "Any news?" Mark asked him impatiently.

Edward shook his head. "Nothing yet, Mark. The surgeon is still in there with her."

Mark took a deep breath and tried to calm down. He knew he couldn't do anything but wait for the doctors to update him on Sophie's condition. He sat down next to Edward and buried his face in his hands.

As Mark waited anxiously for news about Sophie's condition, the surgeon came out to give him an update. But the news wasn't what Mark was expecting.

The surgeon took off his mask and looked at Mark gravely. "She's stable now, but it was touch and go for a while. She lost a lot of blood, and we had to remove her spleen. We also repaired the damage to her liver and stopped the internal bleeding. She's still in critical condition, and we'll be keeping a close eye on her for the next few days."

"I'm sorry, Mr. Parker," the surgeon said solemnly. "We did everything we could, but we couldn't save the baby."

Mark felt like he had been punched in the gut. He had no idea that Sophie was pregnant. He was devastated, and he couldn't even imagine what Sophie must be going through.

He knew that he had to be there for Sophie now more than ever, to support her through this difficult time. And he also knew that he would do everything in his power to make Aiden pay for what he had done.

Mark walks into Sophie's hospital room, his heart pounding as he sees her lying there, hooked up to machines and tubes. He falls to his knees beside her bed, taking her hand in his and feeling the coldness of her skin. As he looks at her, his mind reels with the events of the past few days.

He remembers the sound of her scream as he found her lying on the floor, beaten and bloodied. He recalls the tense moments in the hospital waiting room, waiting to hear news of her condition. And now, here she lies, barely clinging to life.

Mark felt a deep sense of guilt wash over him. Guilt for not having protected her better, for not having seen the signs of Aiden's abuse earlier. He feels a burning anger towards his brother, but he knows that he needs to focus on Sophie right now.

As he sits by her bedside, Mark realizes how much he cares for her. He didn't know she was pregnant, but the loss of her child brings a new level of pain and sorrow to the situation.

Mark jerked awake at the sound of commotion coming from the nurses' station. As he walked over to see what was happening, he saw Aiden trying to push his way past the nurses to get to Sophie's room.

"Get out of here, Aiden," Mark growled, stepping between him and the nurses.

"You have no right to be here," Mark said, his voice cold and dangerous.

" I have every right to be here, she's my wife or have you forgotten that?". Aiden stood looking at Mark with a grin on his face as if he was trying to hurt Mark with his words.

"You're the reason she's here in the first place." Mark was trying his best to stay calm. Aiden's eyes narrowed. "What are you talking about?" Aiden's false outrage was just adding to Mark's anger toward him.

"You know damn well what I'm talking about," Mark snapped. "You hit her, Aiden. You hit her and killed our baby."

Aiden's face went white with shock and anger. "What do you mean your baby?!," he sneered at Mark.

"Sophie was carrying my child , Aiden." Mark knew that Aiden's ego was more hurt than his heart finding put Sophie cheated.

Aiden got an evil like expression on his face " Looks like i should've killed her." Hearing those words , Mark lunged at Aiden. He grabbed him by the collar. Luckily one of the doctors near by stepped between the brothers. Mark let go of Aiden, as he walked away he shouted at Mark over his shoulder " I will be back, and next time you won't be around to save her." With that Aiden disappeared.
