Mark and sophia continue to live in the same house. A year later Mark meets Elaine. Sophie was happy for Mark when he started dating Elaine. She had always thought they would make a good match. However, it was difficult for Sophie to see them together, as it brought back memories of what could have been. Despite this, Sophie tried her best to be supportive of their relationship. She knew that Mark deserved to be happy and that Elaine was a kind and caring person. They would often go out on dates, leaving Sophie alone in the house. One evening, as Sophie was flipping through a magazine in the living room, Mark and Elaine walked in. They had just come back from a dinner date and were beaming with happiness. "Hey Sophie, how was your night?" Mark asked, taking off his jacket and hanging it up. "It was fine. Just relaxing," Sophie replied, trying to hide the sadness in her voice. "Elaine and I had an amazing dinner. You should have come with us," Mark said, sitting down next to Sophie on the couch. Sophie forced a smile. "I'm glad you guys had fun." Mark and Sophie exchanged a look. They both knew how hard it was for Sophie to see Mark and Elaine together. But he was happy and that is all Sophie could ask for. After two years of dating, Mark knew that Elaine was the one he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. But before proposing, he felt he needed to talk to Sophie and get her blessing. "Hey, Sophie," Mark said as he walked into her room. Sophie looked up from her book and smiled. "Hey, Mark. What's up?" Mark took a deep breath. "I need to ask for your permission to propose to Elaine." Sophie's smile faded, and her eyes widened in surprise. "Oh, I see," she said softly. "That's great, Mark. I'm happy for you both." Mark could sense some hesitation in her response. "Is everything okay?" he asked, concerned. Sophie nodded slowly. "Yeah, everything's fine. It's just...it's hard for me to see you with someone else. Especially someone I know so well." Mark reached out and took Sophie's hand. "I understand that, Sophie. But you have to know that you'll always be an important part of my life. And I want you to be a part of Elaine's life too, if that's okay with you." Sophie nodded, tears welling up in her eyes. "Of course, Mark. I want you to be happy, and I want to be a part of your life too." Sophie smiled weakly. "Okay, then. You have my blessing." Mark leaned in and gave her a hug. "Thank you, Sophie. You don't know how much this means to me." Sophie felt a mix of emotions when Elaine asked her to be her maid of honor. While she was happy for Mark and Elaine, she also felt a deep sense of sadness and grief for what could have been with Mark. She put on a brave face and agreed to be the maid of honor, but inside she was struggling to keep her emotions in check. Mark noticed Sophie's sadness and grief and knew he had to talk to her. "Sophie, I know this isn't easy for you. But you have to understand that Elaine is the love of my life. I know we had something in the past, but that's all it was, the past." Sophie nodded, "I know, Mark. I'm happy for you both. It's just hard to see you moving on when I'm still stuck here, trying to put the pieces of my life back together." Mark put his hand on Sophie's shoulder, "I understand that, and I'll always be here for you, but you have to start moving on too. You deserve to find happiness." Sophie managed a small smile, "Thank you, Mark. I'm glad you're happy. Elaine is a wonderful woman, and I know she'll make you very happy." Mark hugged Sophie, "Thank you for understanding, Sophie. You'll always be my friend, no matter what." Sophie hugged him back, tears welling up in her eyes. "I know, Mark. And you'll always have a special place in my heart too." As the wedding day approached, Sophie tried to put on a brave face and be there for Elaine. However, when she saw Mark and Elaine exchange their vows, tears streamed down her face. It was a reminder of what she had lost and what she might never have. After the reception, Mark and Elaine left for their honeymoon, and Sophie was left alone with her thoughts. She knew she had to start moving on, but it was easier said than done. A few weeks later, Mark came back from his honeymoon and visited Sophie. "How are you doing, Sophie?" he asked. A few weeks later, Mark came back from his honeymoon and visited Sophie. "How are you doing, Sophie?" he asked. Sophie put on a brave face, "I'm doing okay, Mark. I've been trying to keep busy." Mark could sense that she was still hurting. "Sophie, I want you to know that I'm always here for you. If you ever need anything, just let me know." Sophie nodded, "Thank you, Mark. I appreciate that." Mark hugged her, "I mean it, Sophie. You'll always be a special person in my life." Sophie smiled weakly, "Thank you, Mark. You're a good friend."
