"You're back," she said, a hint of surprise in her voice. "I thought you would stay longer." Her gaze searched his face. "How did it go?" A small smile tugged at his lips as he stepped forward, gently nudging the door wider. She moved back instinctively, allowing him in, then followed, closing the door behind them.
