The maid nodded quickly. "Yes, Alpha."
Then he gave a small nod and went back to his meal as she turned and hurried out to do as she was told.
"Miss Morvienne?" the maid called gently, knocking again after not getting any response from her first knock.
Morvienne only sniffed in response, staying still and silent.
"Are you okay?" the maid asked softly, feeling very concerned. "Please... can you open up?"
But still, Morvienne said nothing.
"Please..." The maid hesitated, "let me in. Or should I get the Alpha? I... I don't know what to do." And just as she started to turn away, the door opened and Morvienne came out, eyes red and puffy, her lashes clumped from tears.
Her cheeks were blotchy and the corners of her lips trembled slightly as she tried to force control over her emotions.
