29 With her eyes thick with dried salt and grainy sleep, Laura fumbled her hand on the bedside table looking for her buzzing phone. She turned over and squinted to read the number of the caller. It was a local number, and although it seemed familiar, she didn’t recognize it. She cleared her throat and answered, ‘Hello, Laura speaking.’ ‘Laura, hi! It’s Mick.
