After the funeral, I came back home with my dad and we decided to sit outside for a moment. It was a sad day for everyone in the pack and I needed a moment to take it all in.
We had barely sat down for over ten minutes when I saw Asher, the gamma, and Caro walking into the compound. It was rare for other members to visit, but since there was an event, I didn’t read any meaning into it.
“I like how you handled everything today.” My dad praised me. “You’re my true son and it wasn’t a mistake passing down the alpha position to you.” A small smile played on my lips as I heard those words.
It didn’t matter if a lot of people thought of me as an asshole, as long as my father commended me, I didn’t care what any other person thought of me.
