"Come here! Stand beside the lady," Luca ordered.
"Yes, Master," the chief maid obeyed instantly.
She stood beside Lily confidently, a smile forming on her lips.
"Finally, he noticed me," she thought proudly, "the future wife of the mafia boss."
Her eyes swept over Lily with disgust. Does he want to compare me with this dirty woman?
Luca leaned back in his chair and lit another cigarette; smoke slowly filled the air, making Lily and Fiona cough softly.
Luca rolled his eyes. "Useless."
Just then, a guard walked in and bowed his head. "Sir, Nico Bellini is here."
"Let him in," Luca replied calmly.
Lily's heart began to pound. Another one? "Is he planning to sell me?"
"Nico Bellini must be a member of Luca's family," the chief maid thought to herself with a smile on her face.
The door opened slowly.
Nico Bellini walked inside with a confident stride.
"Good morning," he said.
Luca gestured lazily towards the woman. "The boss wanted a woman. Here she is.”
Nico looked at Lily from head to toe; silence stretched across the room, and then he frowned.
“She's not suitable.”
Relief washed over Lily immediately.
But suddenly—
“Ouch!”
The chief maid slipped and fell, causing everyone to turn to look at her.
Nico's eyes lit up. “Well, this one is better.”
She then got up immediately and apologized, "I'm sorry.”
Luca smirked. “She's yours.”
Fear filled the chief maid's eyes as Nico laughed and grabbed the terrified maid.
“Perfect.”
"What have I gotten myself into?" the chief maid asked herself, tears rolling down her cheeks as she was dragged away.
Lily held Fiona tightly, watching everything in fear.
"Don't forget the meeting," he told Luca as the door closed behind him.
"You have no chief maid again," Luca said as he turned to leave.
Then suddenly,
a single gunshot echoed.
Everyone flinched.
Luca lowered his gun calmly.
Lily immediately covered Fiona's ears and turned her away.
"Mummy! What was that?" Fiona asked.
"Nothing, just close your eyes," Lily said, her hands shaking.
"No one gossips behind my back," he said coldly.
—
Later, Lily managed to get some food and water for Fiona from a kind maid. As she walked back to the basement, she saw Luca getting into his car.
He was dressed in a perfectly tailored black suit, his watch catching the light.
"He's leaving," Lily thought. If I can get a phone, I can call Tony; Tony will come for us.
—
All the mafia bosses entered the back room of a well-known, high-class restaurant owned by one of the mafia bosses. The atmosphere was tense and silent.
There was silence until the meeting officially started. The table must have been set before the arrival of the members because once the members arrived in the room, no outsiders dared to enter.
At the end of the table stood Vito Morello, the oldest and most powerful of them all.
“I'm getting old,” he said slowly, “someone must begin to take more responsibility.”
He turned his eyes towards Luca Santoro. "How was your last mission?"
Luca sat upright. "The Don! The target has been permanently dealt with.”
Several men nodded in approval, but one man stared at Luca with open hatred.
His half-brother, Luciano Lorenzo.
“I'm proud of you,” Vito said. “Perhaps you are ready for greater responsibilities.”
Luciano's jaw tightened.
Then Vito continued.
"Our main collector made a great decision; he decided he's no longer setting the books, but I've settled him," Vito Morello said.
A silence echoed through the room. "We need someone new. Someone trustworthy. Someone innocent," Vito Morello added.
As the room was deep in thought, Luca spoke.
"I have someone," all eyes turned to him.
“A woman.”
Luciano immediately leaned forward.
"That's reckless; a woman can't handle this operation."
Luca smirked.
“She has no connection. No history. Nobody would suspect her.”
Luciano frowned.
“And why would she obey you?”
Luca smiled.
“She has a child.”
The room shifted.
“So, you have a plan to use fear?” Luciano asked coldly.
“I plan to use leverage,” Luca corrected smoothly.
Vito thought about it carefully.
“No mother will risk her child's life,” he said finally.
“We'll proceed with Luca's plan.”
Luciano stared at his brother with burning anger.
"This isn't over,” he thought.
After the meeting ended, the mafia bosses slowly left the restaurant.
Luca Santoro walked out with his guard and drove away, but one man stayed behind: Luciano.
Luciano stood alone in the parking lot; his expression changed. His phone vibrated, and he looked around before answering.
“Speak.”
A voice came from the other side. “We finally found them.”
Luciano gripped his phone. “Where?”
“At Luca Santoro's mansion.”
For a moment, Luciano said nothing; he then laughed quietly.
“How ironic.”
The man on the phone sounded confused. “Boss?”
Luciano looked towards the city lights. “My dear brother doesn't even know who he brought into his house.”
The man hesitated.
“You mean the woman…”
Luciano's eyes darkened.
“Yes! My wife and my daughter.” He slowly got into his car.
“They ran away weeks ago, thinking she could escape me, but now they walked straight into my brother’s hands.”
The voice asked nervously, “What do you want us to do?”
Luciano started the engine. “Nothing, let Luca keep her and my daughter for now,” he smiled.
“This will make destroying him much easier.”
