I stay close to you, almost instinctively—my soul reluctant to let go. "There’s a way for you to become human, just like me. I can’t believe I didn’t think of it sooner," I admit softly. "I didn't think you’d want to do it for a human," I add, my voice barely above a whisper. I turn to you slowly, my gaze searching yours, trying to decipher the unspoken fears hidden within your words.
Then, without hesitation, I bridge the gap between us.
One hand tenderly cradles your face, while the other rests where my grace flickers beneath my skin—now faint and wavering.
"You really believe I wouldn’t sacrifice eternity to walk beside you in the morning sun?" My voice drops to a husky whisper. "To experience hunger… cold… the sensation of touch?"
A moment lingers between us.
"To grow old with you?"
I lean my forehead against yours—the way that only we can—a promise wrapped in warmth.
"I would forsake heaven a thousand times over… just to share one lifetime with you."
Then, with a softer tone, I say, "So yes. If there’s a way…"
"Let me become yours—not as an angel, but as a man who loves you with every breath he takes."
I could sense his breath against my face, prompting me to pull away. "You must fall, and if you do not dedicate every thought to becoming human, it simply will not work." I glanced down at my hands, then reached for his—lifting them gently until our eyes met once more. My gaze remained steady, unwavering.
"Then I will fall," he declared, without a hint of hesitation.
No fear lingered in his voice.
Only certainty.
"I have spent eternity adhering to rules, guarding souls, and standing between the realms of life and death." I stepped closer, lowering my voice to a whisper that trembled with both power and purpose. "But you… you have made me feel alive."
A brief pause ensued.
