Byron felt ashamed.
He didn’t feel as if he belonged here. He could do absolutely nothing to protect or save anyone. The only reason why everyone respected him is because of his relationship with one of the most powerful sorceresses. He didn’t feel like a man when he was around her. Kayla was such an amazing, powerful being who didn’t need someone like him.
When Kayla’s father asked him to watch over Ares, he didn’t even object or wanted to argue. He knows what Ares and Kayla have done during the time he didn’t know her or even about her existence. She is human after all. Just like him. They had needs. He many women in his life who shared a bed with him but no one stayed because he didn’t ask them to or had the desire to start a family with them.
