By morning meal the following day, my dispatch has been received—and returned.
“Meet me at the hydroelectric turbines just after moonrise. Bring what you cannot live without. ~ Pollux.”
Bring what I cannot live without? What does that mean?
I hurry through the motions of my day, eager to again see the quiet ponds and beauteous nature that has taken over the defunct turbines. These old structures are no more than ruins today, efforts by the early settlers to harness the planet’s natural resources. Advances in solar and plasma technologies, however, rendered the turbines obsolete. What man has taken from nature, nature will reclaim. The turbines among them.
At moonrise, they will be glorious with early evening fauna.
