My father used to say everyone, deep down in our hearts, dreaded death. Now, this was rather ironic coming from someone who ended his own life. Father believed death to be the one thing we all dreaded— and rightfully so. People had different reasons why the word ‘death’ brought fear to their hearts. Some feared death because it was the wicked end of everything life had to offer. Some feared it because they didn't know what they would meet on the other side. Some feared it because, based on the life they led, they felt it wouldn't be rosy on the other side. Some feared it because they didn't believe there was an ‘other side’. It was safe to say others just feared it and couldn't say why.
Right now, I couldn't say why I was so damn terrified of dying, but man, I was.
