Chapter 4

Tour of the Castle

Lennox

After dinner I show her around the pack house and end in my office. It’s a bit formal, but my bedroom may make her too nervous, and I don’t want to pressure her, or tempt myself and Drake more than I already am, just by touching her.

“Ready for your tour?”

I offer my hand. I hadn’t wanted to let go of it to eat, but I had to use some self control. Once she accepts me as her mate I will be holding much more than her hand. My manhood twitches at the thought.

“Yes, please.”

She grabs my hand and stands as I slide her chair back, sparks reignite as her fingertips make contact with my hand. I’m glad to know she can feel the mate bond. I’m not sure how this works with a fairy. After all, they don’t exist as far as the rest of the world knows.

“At the risk of being rude, I must ask, how old are you, love?”

I have no idea how fairies age, she looks to be young, but so do vampires.

“Oh, I’m actually 21… today.”

She says sadly. I crease my brow in confusion, wondering why I see a quick flash of pain in her eyes. I stop and turn her so we are standing face to face in front of my office. I gently reach up and touch her chin with my finger, pushing her face upward toward mine, her pale skin is so beautiful. I brush her silvery blonde hair out of her face and tuck it behind her ear.

“Why are you sad?”

I ask, genuinely concerned.

“I share my birthday with my mother. She was my best friend until…”

she pauses. I urge her to tell me more with a nod.

“… before I left home.”

She wraps her arms around herself and turns from me. I drop it, because she is obviously uncomfortable talking about it. I have showed her every room in the pack house, leaving out the jail and my bedroom.

“This is my office”

I place my hand on the small of her back and open the door. I guide her past my desk to a sitting area with a small leather sofa. She sits down and I sit next to her. I force myself to sit on the opposite end of the couch. I want nothing more than to take her right here on this couch and make her mine. I take a deep breath and calm myself. All in good time.

“Everlee, you must have questions. I’m not sure where to begin, but I would like to talk about our bond. How much do you know about mates?”

I try to hide my eagerness as I await her answer. She starts to pick at her nails nervously. I can see she is unsure about what to say, maybe even a bit embarrassed that she knows so little. It will be great when we are mated, I will know exactly what she is feeling. The thought made me smile.

Goddess, please let her accept me. I may die if this beautiful creature rejects me.

I scoot close enough that I can extend my hand and stop her fidgeting. She seems to calm a bit and smiles at my gesture.

“I know very little about anything, if I’m honest. It’s hard to explain without telling you my whole life story.”

She seems conflicted about sharing for some reason.

“I would love to hear about every minute of your life, nothing you could say would change our bond, Love. The moon Goddess fated us to be mates, that’s all I need to know. But the mate bond is complicated. It’s something most in the supernatural world are taught about from a very young age. I’m not trying to pry, but I am guessing from your earlier statement that your parents are no longer around? How much were they able to teach you?”

I’m trying not to probe her too much. I know our time this evening is almost over, the higher the moon gets, the less I will be able to control Drake while being this close to her.

“Fairies don’t have mates. My parents, like all fairies, fell in love much like humans do. I’ve never known anyone who had a mate. While you were wrong about the Fae being extinct, we are endangered. I admit I don’t know why. I’ve never heard about the Great War, but if what you said is true, it could explain alot. I would very much like to learn more about the mate bond though, and you.”

She blushes a bit at that last part, but she seems a bit more relaxed after speaking.

“I promise, I will teach you all you want to know, and as far as learning more about me, soon you will know everything there is to know, more so than anyone ever has or will know about me.”

I can feel my eyes grow darker with lust, the heat coming from my body tripled and it’s getting harder to control Drake.

Everlee blushes several shades of red and bites her bottom lip at my last remark. My d**k hardens at the sight of her biting her lip, I want to take her lips into mine and taste her tongue, I just know she tastes amazing. I look away and shove Drake down once more.

Let me get her to a room and I’ll take you for a run. Tonight is not the time Drake. I am just as disappointed about it as you are, believe me.

All I got was a growl in response. Horny mutt. Not that I blame him. Our mate is perfect in every way.

“Let me take you to your room, love. I’m sure this has all been a shock, you should get some rest and tomorrow we will spend the day answering all of your questions.”

She nods and stands with me, I grab her hand and we walk down the hall. I can’t put her too near to my own room, I don’t trust myself enough for that. So the room directly below me, on the Beta floor, will have to work. She will be close enough to my Beta, Zeke, that I know she is safe, but far enough that her scent won’t overwhelm me. I need to fill Zeke in, he had mind linked me earlier and I promised to tell him everything later.

Lennox

Meet me downstairs in 10. We are going for a run.

We arrive at the room. I had mind linked some omegas to prepare for her while we were in my office. I open the door and her eyes light up.

“This is beautiful! You could fit my whole apartment in here! Thank you for letting me stay here tonight.”

I smile at her giddy nature. I love seeing her so excited. But did she just say tonight? As in, she plans on leaving after tonight? That won’t do. I will just have to convince her to stay. I lean down, and plant a kiss on her forehead.

“It’s my pleasure love, thank you for staying. There should be clothes in the closet that will fit you, and the bathroom has been fully stocked. I will see you at breakfast in the morning. I’ll come get you at 7. Sleep well beautiful, Happy Birthday.”

I turn to leave before I follow her into that bedroom and let Drake take over. I need to get into the woods now.
