The two enormous war machines confronted each other with their respective technicians swarming all over them making last minute adjustments and checks. Standing just over five meters tall, and heavily armored, they were each equipped with several of the latest assault weapons.
They had been constructed by two different companies, but essentially to the same set of design and performance specifications. However, other than common power reactors, the companies had not been obliged to use precisely the same components, or even accept items from the lowest bidder. Guaranteed military invincibility was the main requirement, regardless of price, and both makers claimed their product had exactly that property.
