Elyria’s boots echoed against the stone corridor, every step pulling her closer to the pulse of magic that burned hotter in her chest. The medallion led her unerringly, its glow slicing through the shadows of the labyrinth.
Raven stayed close, his eyes scanning for traps, wards, or hidden enemies. “We’re almost there,” he murmured.
Elyria’s breath caught. Ahead, faint silver light shimmered—pale and familiar. Her sister. Selene.
“Elyria…” a soft, trembling voice carried through the shadows.
Elyria froze, her heart hammering. “Selene?”
From the corner of the corridor, a figure stepped forward. The light coalesced into a girl, pale yet fierce, her silver eyes locking with Elyria’s. Time seemed to halt.
“My sister,” Elyria whispered, tears pricking her eyes.
Selene’s lips quivered into a small, cautious smile. “You came.”
Raven tensed. “Don’t lower your guard. Something’s not right.”
Before Elyria could respond, a wall of darkness surged from the shadows, blocking their path. Figures emerged—Coven guardians, twisted and skeletal, infused with dark magic.
Elyria’s eyes blazed. “Raven—get her out of here!”
“No,” Selene said, stepping forward. Shadows surged around her, coiling into blades that cut through the first wave of guardians. “We fight together.”
Elyria hesitated, then nodded. They moved as one—twins, half-vampire and half-witch, magic and strength intertwining. A burst of blue fire from Elyria met a storm of silver shadow from Selene, tearing through the attackers.
The guardians screamed, shattered, and collapsed into ash.
For a moment, silence fell. Only the flickering light of the medallion remained.
Selene breathed heavily, stepping closer. “It’s really you… all this time, I thought I’d never see you.”
Elyria hugged her, holding her sister tightly. “I promised I’d find you. No one can keep us apart.”
Raven watched, wary, but relieved. “Glad to see you two are back together. Now let’s not stick around.”
A low rumble echoed through the mountain, shaking the walls. The Coven knew. They were coming.
